I tried bidding starting at $105 in $10 increments adding rebid zones. I suppose that others could try smaller increments in the range between $125 and $135. Sometimes when I am "close", Priceline will offer me the chance to bid again if I raise my bid by $x, but since I didn't get that option, I thought that I was still pretty far off.

started with the PRICELINE link above, with $75 for a 4*, and added rebid zones up to $85
I started with the PRICELINE link above.
I saw that another user got the same hotel for this price on the same days I needed, and just booked it on the first try.
I previously tried for a 4* in Pasadena, bidding from $70-$90 because I saw others had gotten the Pasadena Westin for $70ish. It didn't go through though, so I just switched to Downtown instead.
I have been trying in $5-$10 increments starting at $95 for the past week, usually stopping at $140. Today, I was rejected at $140 again (with no offer to increase my bid). I only had one rebid zone remaining and tried $155 because I was losing patience! I am relieved to finally secure something, as there is a triathlon in town that weekend and rack rates are through the roof.
I started my search on the PRICELINE link above.
got it on the first bid. started search from the PRICELINE links above

Bidding Strategy Austin Downtown 3* and above

Hi,
I need two hotel nights in Austin Check In 10-19-2012 Check Out 10-21-2012 while I am in town for a football game. Published rates for 3* properties are $300+ for downtown. Hotwire has a 2.5* property for $190 and nothing rated higher. What do you think I can realistically get for something in Downtown Austin via Priceline? I am fine with anything 3* and above. Do you think there is any benefit in waiting?
Thanks!
