  1. A quick review by way of follow-on: the property was all right, kind of standard inexpensive hotel.  Wasn't bad, wasn't great:

    • room smelled a bit damp/musty, though turning the air on helped with this
    • toilet seat was loose
    • the free breakfast was pretty minimal; no protein (eg eggs, yogurt, etc)

    On the other hand:

    • the shower was good
    • the room was a good size for a double; included a couch, fridge, and microwave
    • I got a good night's sleep

I'll probably try somewhere different next time -- for Windsor, I'd rather be downtown, and if I'm just passing through Southern Ontario, there are properties in London that are a better value.  But for someone who needs to be in Windsor and close to the airport or auto plants, this'd probably suit their needs.

  2. New hotel, yaaaay!

  3. Full list of amenities after booking:  Free parking, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Golf nearby.

Looks to be about 800m from Meadowvale GO station, which is a 45-50 minute trip to downtown Toronto.  Should be a good option for hitting Toronto on the cheap.  Too, here are other Hotwire / Priceline hotels right up and down this same street if I'm not mistaken.

  4. 2.5* SW Toledo - Maumee - Holland with  Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Self-service laundry is indeed the Extended Stay America.  Hotwire even popped up a little Book soon! The last person got the Extended Stay America - Toledo - Holland dialog on the hotel page before booking. =)

    Amenities on the listing page:

    Free parking

    Free breakfast

    Free Internet

    Pet friendly

    Self-service laundry

It also showed Internet access on the booking page.

$39 rate listed as "Weekend Deal!  50% OFF"; taxes and fees, $10.68, total $49.68.  Booked via the HOTWIRE search box; thanks as always BB for help getting a great hotel deal.  Should be more than adequate for a roadtrip stopover point. =)

  5. So -- I am new to this chain, but so far I'm pretty impressed with this property, at least for people travelling on a tight budget. It's an extended-stay business hotel, so housekeeping only comes weekly. The "room" is a suite of around 820 square feet, plain but functional, with a full-sized fridge, two-burner stove, utensils, cookware, etc.

It's only somewhat close to downtown (around 3 miles out -- about a 50 minute walk or 20 minutes on the bus) and the nearest services like restaurants are located close to the nearby IUPUI campus, around 25 minutes away on foot.

If you can deal with all of the above, though, it looks like it's possible to net an even better deal than I did -- right now, the going Hotwire rate is $59 for stays that start on the day of booking.

  6. Sorry to clock this followup in so late, but: I don't know what other folks experiences are at this hotel, but the room I got was pretty rough. No working internet access at all (either wired or wireless); a huge water stain on the bathroom ceiling right above the toilet, and the whole floor looked extremely tired and ready for an overhaul. I know that some places like to give you the bottom-of-the-barrel rooms when booking through Hotwire, but I was really surprised to see things in this shape at a Delta property. I usually see much, much better from them.

Tonight we're staying at the Metropolitan on credit card reward points. Booked through their website, this room (1 queen) would have run $119+tax, and even at that price I would have taken this over the Delta. Much nicer property, equally good location, and (most importantly for a computer geek) working wifi. =)

  7. Listed Amenities: Fitness Center, Business Center, High-speed Internet Access

85% Hotwire recommendation rate; searching for 1 Adult.

Hoping that I don't regret being talked out of the $106 4* and 3.5* listings that were cropping up. We're trying to keep costs as low as reasonably possible while still being close to venue for our conference.

Just as a heads-up for folks travelling to this area within the same dates - , the conference in question (Drupalcon) runs the week of 7 March, and has sold out the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers (600 rooms) for the Sunday and Monday. I imagine the rest of the week will follow, and that we're seeing some spillover into surrounding hotels already. We could see 3000-4000 attendees.

Thanks for providing this resource -- this is my first post & my first Hotwire booking, and I don't think I would have ventured it without the tools and advice here at betterbidding. =)
