  1. Started with HOTWIRE link from Better Bidding. Was keen on hotel description of free breakfast and free parking, and choice available of 2 queen beds. Also 90% recommended.

Was a little disappointed with the result of La Quinta Inn and Suites. $138 per night was the room rate with total being US$517. Checking same dates and room on the La Quinta website gives a total of $535, so only an $18 saving.

  3. I'm occasional user of Hotwire for previous US trips. I got asked to help my uncle book some nights in Singapore and save money. He wasn't too fussed about where he is staying so I thought why not try a Hotwire secret hotel.

Chose Singapore Central as it'd be good to be close to Chinatown. He has a limited budget so a 3.5 star hotel in Singapore Central for $99 a night seemed to fit the bill. Tried to cross check the better bidding board but info on Singapore is limited.

    Secret Hotel Amenities:

    Free Parking

    Handicapped parking

I thought it might end up being Furama City Centre but nope, it's the sister hotel, Furama RiverFront Hotel. Rate on Agoda was $143 so my uncle saved a bit and he's happy.

Mods, you can add this to the list (I'm happy to send the booking confirmation if you need proof).

Hope this helps others in the future.

Thank you to better bidding and thereuare in particular for this fabulous resource.

  4. Right during the All Star game. probably why you are having such a tough time.

Thanks for that. I figured that there might be something big going on like a convention.

I have booked a fully refundable room at the Red Lion for $110 per night for the moment. Double tree on S. Harbor is $95 per night but not refundable.

Thought about bidding for the first few days through PRICELINE and booking the last couple through the hotels direct but the hotels don't allow this. Need to book the entire block.

Might re-check things with PRICELINE closer to the day.

  5. Used the board's PRICELINE link and did some background research as to usual rate for these areas.

Tried a combination of these two areas, and used Laguna Beach as a free re-bid area.

Unsuccessful from $53 up to $75.

Probably should give up at this stage and book through the hotel websites direct (Doubletree ~$95 per night, Red Lion ~$110 per night) unless some one has any suggestions.
