If you're only going to be in Brooklyn for the one event, why not stay in Manhattan and commute to Brooklyn for the one nite? (rather than, i'm assuming, staying Brooklyn and commuting multiple times to Manhattan for the 'other' nites of your trip... or is this just a short 1-2 nite stay?)
This is a one night stay. Yes, Manhattan would absolutely work!
Friends,
Just starting my travel again and will be going to a live show at The Bell House in Brooklyn. While I am familiar with Manhattan, I don't know Brooklyn and want to be sure I am staying in a safe area. Can you recommend areas to stay?
As a follow up, I used to live in NYC and have stayed there for years, but the news recently has me nervous about it getting sketchy again (random attacks on the street and the subway). Any thoughts?

NOTE: The price on the first search result page said $55, but when I selected the mystery hotel, the next page said $56 (and that is what I was charged). Curious.

Downtown is always a bit out of the way, but for this price, it is worth the extra subway rides!

The list of amenities was on my receipt. Should be the correct list, no?
Our stay was the last night this property was open. They told us to make sure we were out by 11AM because they were closing. We did overhear them telling some folks that another company bought it and it will reopen in the future.

Sorry for the delay in response. If I can get a room below $200 a night that would be ideal. Downtown-Financial District will definitely work. I would like to get a 3 star or above hotel.
