  1. Kev,

I have booked many times, I suggest you try the 2.5 star hotel. Whenever I do this I end up with the Courtyard by Marriot. To be honest this is a great hotel. The location is much better than many of the 4 stars, as it is right across from City Hall and near many bars and restauraunts. The rooms are very nice and not cookie cutter at all, and they have a great pool/exercise area.

  2. First tried a bid of 50 for 4* in the Universal-Seaworld area was rejected.

Next tried 55 with the additional zone of Downtown Orlando, rejected.

Bid of 55 at 3* was accepted and got the Holiday Inn Resort on I-Drive.

Though not ecstatic, it is a good deal, and from what I have read it is at least clean which can't be said for many of the other 3*s, and for me that is the most important thing.

By the way, we wanted to stay near Seaworld or Universal as we are not doing Disney World, thus the reason we limited our zones.

  3. I have a question to throw out there. Is there a known reason why these hotels, Luxor, Mandalay and Monte Carlo are not listed on Expedia and other sites like that? I know that they are all owned by the same company, so what goes for one goes for all. Is it possible to get a room at one through Priceline or Hotwire? Any info would be appriciated.

  4. Venitian is going to be tough to get through priceline unless you try to book within 5 days of your arrivial. From what I have read from other posts, that hotel doesn't release it's rooms to priceline until then. Given that your coming all the way from Europe you might want to go with hotwire. What I would do is book through the EasyClick option that can be found on this site. You can have that as a back up and if you do get the Venitian you can cancel the booking as long as you do it at least 48 hours (see edit comment below) in advance(though double check that policy on the hotel you plan to book).

EDIT by thereuare- edited to reflect EasyClickTravel's 72 hour cancellations policy (5 days for onsite disney properties, 48 hours for 1 nite penalty... see their site for official and complete policy, as cancellation rules are subject to change)

  5. So, I have read that the Alladin is being transformed to a Planet Hollywood as per the takeover by PH (what will become of their eatery at Ceasars?) Since this is supposed to be taking shape soon, I assume there will be work being done on the hotel, and I hear the Passage Mall is being redone too (but by other new owners, not PH) So if your planning on booking here I would get an update on the remodeling projects first (like if the pool is open ect). A personal note aside, I think this stinks because I was fan of the look of Alladin, and do not look forward to lots of displays of Terminator 2 leather jackets ect...

  6. Well, I was going to be happy keeping the Sahara, but there was a cancelation for the casino rate at the Flamingo. It is incredible how much cheaper you can get your room. My advise if your planning a trip for one of the crazy periods of high mark-ups, try and piggyback with a high roller if you know any or get more people and book a group rate. Anyway the Sahara has already gone up from my initial booking of two weeks ago, by a lot. At the time of my booking it was about a 156 a night average, and that was just through the site.

  7. The Strat is pretty cheap, you can maybe get that around 175 to 160. I got the Sahara through them for an average of 160. But that is by booking 18th to 21. That 17th date is the killer. By the way, did the easy click reservation actually go through, or was it on request, because we failed in our bid for a room for the monte carlo. Also is the Imperial Palace better than the Sahara?

  8. Yeah, it is a tough time to be going. My hope is that maybe people booked more than one place, or extra rooms for friends, and that maybe those places will open up closer to the date with cancelations. I think I will hold onto the Sahara right now, since it is at leat a cheap place to gamble!

  9. My friend has the request in, so hopefully it will go through. The worst part of this is that his brother comes out alot and is rated at the Mirage. He got a group rate of 150, of course we were late in the game and that casino rate was gone by the time we went to book! I will keep you updated, thanks for the suggestion. Not only will I consider splitting, but we could always have the split set up, and then try to see if a low rate opens for that first night a few days ahead at the monte carlo, and cancel the Sahara.
