  1. And should I be concerned with it not indicating it is non-smoking if I don't want a smoking room. (maybe that's a stupid question)

That's what I was afraid of w the 4 star, stayed at the Felix once...hated it. Not just amazingly tiny rooms, but terrible service, couldn't even get coffee in the morning.

Oh, and what are the chances of getting a better price close to the date?

  2. Trying to book a room for 9/14-17 in Chicago. Not coming up with any fabulous deals.

3* showing just internet and business center 85% hotwire review $148

4* Boutique, no smoking, fitness, restaurant, business, internet $157

I can get into Hotel Indigo for $169 but trying to be close to shopping, etc so my wife has something to do while I'm at the conference.

If it doesn't say non-smoking what's the chance of us being in a smoking room...we'd hate that as my wife is very sensitive to it.

    Thanks!

  3. Thought this might be useful.

    Trying Mag Mile/River North...

    4 *** $125 bid = 0

    3 1/2 *** $100 bid = 0

Ended up on PRICELINE, along with a 10relax10 coupon and after tax got a 4**** (felix) for $160 (including taxes), so about $100 more total for the four nights than what the $125 bid (plus they have big tax/fees) and I get to be at the hotel I wanted to be at.

  4. Would still be the Palmer. Are you looking only for the W? A lot of the hotels mentioned above are not far from it, and while waiting for it to appear - which on HOTWIRE it very well may not for these dates - you could miss other options that may go if these dates are busy enough in the Loop.

The conference hotel is the W...I actually just got word that I can stay with some friends in the area so while that is a great deal and tempting, going to have to skip.

  5. I have a conference in Chicago the end of the month. I missed the deadline for the discounted rate at the W City Center, but hoping to still get in.

The Conference is at the Civic Opera House so anything close will do.

Here's what comes up with a search of 2 adults searching near that address (20 North Wacker Drive Chicago, IL) Apr 27-30:

    Chicago Loop:

    3 1/2 fitness and internet $74

4 boutique fitness restaurant business internet $125

    Mag Mile

4 1/2 bed choice fitness restaurant business laundry internet spa $118 90%

4 bed choice fitness restaurant business internet $99 80%

    Water Tower

4 bed choice, fitness, restaurant, business, internet $76

    Thanks again!

  6. The Knickerbocker was recently renovated - it's a very historic, older property - and reviews have picked up since the renovation (it was never bad, but it used to be one of the least desirable 4*'s in the area.) I'd recommend the 4.5* Mag Mile/possible Intercontinental instead, though - that's a really grand, very nice historic property right on Michigan Ave. And then the Monaco/Westin options would be just a bit higher.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE, Expedia.com or Orbitz.com links.

Thanks. Going to go with the Westin I think. More our style, though the 4.5* would be nice the Intercontinental is a bit ritzy for our taste, we're more hip loft type of people.

Thanks for all the help. I've told so many people about this site.

  7. The 4* Loop would likely be the Palmer.

I like the Indigo a great deal, but there have been some reports of guests being charged extra for two beds - not sure whether those users indicated 2/1 or just 2, but that would be an issue. Wouldn't recommend the Hyatt or Palmer with nicer options not too much more - personally, the Westin or 4.5* NMA would be appealing options. A bigger recommendation, although it would be just South of the river, would be the Monaco for $99 via Expedia.

Thanks a ton. Just saw another great price $90-10 for the Knicerbocker. Any experience with it?
