Priceline's site says that name changes aren't allowed, but has anyone been able to either change the name on a hotel reservation or check in with someone else's ID? Or can I check in since I paid with my CC?
Since you booked it under your credit card, you may likely be able to check in - Info below quoted from pricelines's terms and conditions
"Upon check-in, guests must present a valid ID and credit card or, in the hotel's discretion, debit card, in their name that is consistent with the transactional details provided to priceline.com (the amount of available credit required will vary by hotel). Debit cards may not be accepted"
I would bring a copy of your friends ID...imo
Had a backup Alamo booking for $225 through Costco travel which is roughly $16, so i'm pretty happy.

Bid $110, $115 and was accepted at $120. Pretty happy. We are staying 2 nights earlier at the the Sheraton for $90+ 4800 SPG points so this is a great value for a comparable hotel.
Previously in the week we bid $80, and got on first try.
We decided to lower our bid on the second half of trip.
Started at $70, and ended up getting it at $80 after 6 re-bids anyway.
Great deal considering median price for these hotels was in the $164 range.
Wow, kinda won on first bid. Hotel median price for Resorts in Waikiki beach area was for $164.
We bid $80, and got on first try
$80/day Jan 23-26, 27-29 2010.
Since we split up our trip to head to north shore for 1 day, we decided to lower our bid on the second half of trip.
Started at $70, and ended up getting it at $80 after 6 re-bids.
Now I can cancel my 3* Sheraton PK for $119/night. Crazy.
Wanted a hotel near the north shore since we didn't want to head back to Waikiki area after visiting the Polynesian Cultural Centre.
Started bid at $130
after a few days, got it for $159. Expedia offered it at $217! Great deal.

We tried bidding for 4* hotels in the French Quarter. Heard the 4* hotels were less likely to have noise from late night folks getting in. Anyway, lucky for us there were not many 4* in the surrounding areas so we managed to get 5 bids each night.
Bidding for 3 rooms was tough - We didn't think there was availability. Room retailed at $119/night.
Started bid at $50, part way through the five days worth of bidding, they offered us $91.
We knew we were getting close around the $80+
After 5 days, we got it for $90. Not bad.
