  1. You're not lame because of that! It can also happen that you click on a hotel and when you try to buy it, it won't let you anyway. (One reason it tends to be a bad idea to count on HOTWIRE as a sure thing until you actually book it.) Availability may or may not come back before your stay.

ok then.......I'm still considered lame here in my house but appreciate your support! Have a back-up plan but am majorly disappointed. Will keep checking back with HOTWIRE and of course, will do so through the links provided here. Love you guys.....many THANKS!

  2. Thanks, did my reading homework and appreciate the info. Have considered a try on PRICELINE but am afraid I'll get one of the 4*s that don't appeal to me so will probably stick with HOTWIRE and split my booking. Will use the links here of course to place my request.

One last (hopefully) question: why would the one night cost more than the others? Could understand if it was a weekend night or over a holiday but 6 July is a Tuesday and not a holiday that I could see. Just curious.

  3. I hope this is the correct place to post my questions.....if not, please move this:

Should have booked last week when Hotwire had a 4* hotel I THINK is the one I'd prefer in Amsterdam East for $79 per each of the 5 nights I need in July beginning 6 July .....the amenities match anyway and ID info on Better Bidding makes me relatively confident that it is THE ONE. Anyway, we went away for the weekend and figured I'd book when we returned......how wrong I was!

Now what looks like the same hotel is going for $99 per night for each of the 5 nights OR if I split the dates, a room goes for $102 the first night and $79 per night for each of the remaining 4 nights. If I split the booking, I save about $77. Is this a good strategy? I mean, will I have to check out and check back in? How likely will I have to change rooms? I sound naive even to myself......but then, I AM!

    Boy, lesson learned here.....CARPE DIEM!

    Thanks for your help.

  4. Well, after almost 2 weeks of bidding, I finally won an acceptable (to me) bid for a 4* Downtown Minneapolis Hotel. Bid $56 just now and won the Hyatt Regency 5/13-5/17 for $56 per night...first bid today and only for Downtown Minneapolis....no other locations.

AND of course linked my bid through the PRICELINE link on this site. Thank you Better Bidding!!!

Now, I've got my fingers crossed for luck with Amsterdam hotels for July.

  5. We have our expectations in check so no worries about overly high expectations, though thank you for your caution. Also understand about guarantees but it would be good to for us to have them noted as we will do on the reservation comment section. Also understand about night club activity but the comments on some travel sites about the level of noise throughout the night isn't something we'd appreciate. We'll let you know how we go. Will re-send our email today. Again, thanks for taking time to respond to our questions.....you've been a great help.

  6. Hi there MadFlyer. I still haven't heard from Skt Petris. Maybe their reservation department is closed over the weekend? The other consideration is that we would like to have a room that is does not have the risk of noise from the Lobby Bar which can get a bit disturbing to guests in those rooms that face the interior. So if we put that request and the need for a non-smoking room in the comment section of the reservation, it sounds like we have a good chance to have our request honored......?

We found that we couldn't link to FirstHotels.com through this website as you've noted. Sorry that we can't because we appreciate the folks at this website and would like to contribute. We're not interested in the Marriott anymore and are instead pretty much committed to the SKT Petris...just wish they'd answer our email so we can take advantage of their great offer and get this reservation for CPH off our "to-do" list.

    Again, thanks for the information!

  7. I will indeed book through this site's link....I've received alot of help here, thank you all very much.

I emailed the SKT Petri last night but they have not sent a reply.

I surely would like to know if the Marriott is still offered on PL but no one seems to have won it lately so am thinking it's off. I'll continue to monitor wins.

  8. Madflyer: many thanks for your suggestions. The rates at Skt. Petri looks great with A/C!!! Have asked if they can guarantee a non-smoking room and if they can, they will have very happy guests in us!

Apparently the second week in August is Fashion Week so hotels are booking up.

Again, may thanks for your help and we'll keep you informed.

    Best, beauty1

  9. Hi everyone.

I'm trying to ID this 4* hotel in Copenhagen for 8/10-8/13. It's listed amenities are Restaurant, Business Center, and High-speed Internet. The Hotwire price is $129 per night. (Interestingly there is a 2.5* listed for $165 with Restaurant and Internet).

I've looked on this site but it doesn't seem that anyone's booked Copenhagen recently. There were only 2 listings on Hotwire today...seems CPH is an expensive place!

    Thanks for your help.
