Was traveling for 1 night on Saturday, 3/27.
We ended up booking directly through Breezes rather than using PRICELINE...too nervous about where we might end up.
I was bidding for a 3.5 star hotel in the Rye-White Plains section of Westchester for this past weekend. There were only three 3.5 star hotels, and all were about 1-2 miles from each other, so I didn't care where I stayed. I started at $65 and was rejected. I then added a 2.5 star to get a free re-bid, as there were no 2.5 star hotels in the Rye-White Plains area, and increased the bid to $70.
Much to my dismay, I was "upgraded" involuntarily to a 3 star hotel (Residence Inn White Plains) - one that was about 7 miles from where I was hoping to stay. The hotel ended up being fine, but I wasn't aware that Priceline could/would do that? If that's the case, then the free re-bid becomes risky, doesn't it?
Am I missing something?
Any thoughts on a priceline bidding strategy for a Nassau/Paradise Island resort? Again, going 1/27-1/30. Atlantis and its various properties seems to be the only resort listed on priceline. I have a few days and have tried a few low-ball bids ($140 and $160) with no luck. Have also bid $70 for a 3 1/2 star with no luck....Thanks.
Looking to book either on priceline or hotwire for 1/27-1/30. Priceline has Sheraton as 3 1/2 star and Hilton at 4*. Trying to figure out whether Hotwire's star ratings would be the same. Both only have 1 4-star hotel and 1 3-1/2 star hotel. Any thoughts? Thanks...

Staying in NYC on 9/22 for 1 night. Have a reservation for $180/nt (+ tax) at Yale Club. Looking to see if I can do better ($170 total) elsewhere via priceline. Would like to be as close to Grand Central as possible - ideally midtown east, midtown west, or time square areas would work best. I have until 6pm on 9/21 to cancel the current reservation, so I have today and tomorrow to bid. Any advice? Thanks.
