  1. Dates: 2/3/12-2/5/12, Super Bowl weekend

Originally bid 5* Vegas strip north at $150. No luck.

Rebid 5* with Vegas strip south at $155. No luck.

Rebid 4* at $105, won bid for PH towers westgate.

I have a feeling that maybe I could have bid lower at $100 or maybe even $95, but oh well.

And yes, I used the PRICELINE link.

Question for the administrators here. There's a possibility I might an extra room. If I make the same winning bid described above, what are the chances I get the PH towers? I realize nothing is 100% guaranteed, but maybe someone here has some experience with this?

Conversely if I needed more space, I might ask the front desk to upgrade the current priceline room to a bigger suite for an extra $50/night or something. Can anyone speak to their experiences on this?

  2. Originally tried bidding priceline for Pike Place at 3 stars at $60 then tried rebidding all the way up to $75. Fish weren't biting though! Saw hotwire had $100 for a 4 star and said to heck with the bidding games and booked this. Winds up at $241 for two nights after fees and taxes. Normal booking sites have this place listed in the $150 range, so I suppose it was a good deal.

    Also used the HOTWIRE link.

  3. Bid $12 for the dates mentioned and got it on first try. In retrospect, perhaps I should have bid lower as I did not have to go through the counterbid process. Comparable price on hotwire was $14.95, so not much savings in that regard, but over 50% better than Hertz listed rate. Oh well.

    Offer Price $24.00

    Exorbitant fees and Taxes $34.50

    Total $58.50

Crazy that taxes and garbage exceeded rental price itself.

And yes, I used the PRICELINE link.

  4. Went in with the intent of staying in Mission Valley Friday the 18th for one night.

Started the bidding in Mission Valley at $60 at 4 stars.

    Rebid at $65 including downtown.

Rebid again at $70 to include Mission Bay.

Rebid at $85 at 3 stars and finally was accepted.

Lots of work just to save some money!

$85 plus $18 in taxes and fees. Not too happy with the fees, but about $35 better than what's offered on HOTWIRE. And yes, I did use the Betterbidding PRICELINE link.

  5. New user here. I stayed at the Trump two weeks ago for Super Bowl Sunday. Saturday check in was $100 with the aforementioned $15 resort fee. Everything went well except for the fact that my key didn't work for the pool area! I went to the front desk and asked for a new card, went to the pool, and it still didn't work! When I went to check out, I asked if they could refund my resort fee. After all, I was locked out of the pool, but no dice.

As mentioned already, Trump has comfortable beds, nice bathroom (with tv), lobby, etc. However, this place doesn't have a casino which disqualifies it from 5star status in my book.

  6. Hi guys. First time user here.

Since it is my first time and haven't seen or heard of the $20 trick, I can't comment, but I have tried asking WITHOUT the $20 tip trick. It was at the Trump and since it was via priceline, they had me in the standard suite. I *politely* asked if there were any one bedrooms were available. No luck, but the staff offered an "upgrade" to the 39th floor with a strip view. I think someone already mentioned that the Trump typically does not have full capacity, so perhaps this wasn't much of an upgrade at all.

I guess it's all about how polite you are to people, as some people have alluded to already.
