Checked out the hotel on Trip Advisor , liked the reviews.

Went to the HOTWIRE site , via your link , and selected 3 and 4 star properties in the Madison Square Garden - Hell's Kitchen area.

Using the PRICELINE link, I just bid $75 (+taxes & fees = $95.40) and got the Holiday Inn Pointe-Clare for one night stopover in July (July 7)

I'm guessing this is the 3* property on the HOTWIRE site listed for $79 .

Posted rate on the hotel's website is $133 (taxes incld) so I'm pleased with the results.

Holiday Inn Pointe Claire - Montreal Airport hotel has :-free high-speed Internet access, free airport shuttle, daily buffet breakfast, restaurant and lounge, indoor pool and a fitness centre.

Thanks for your reply and I now understand this forum better. We are looking to spend around 160 a night for a 4 star. Is this possible?

What I would really like is a very nice place as close as possible to Times Square. So any recommended strategies to ensure this would be helpful.

We went to NYC ( May 2009) approx the same time line as your planned trip dates , we got a 4* in MTE (Midtown East) via Priceline (linked thru this site) for $120 night. Suggest you not limit your hotel seach to TS , actually most forums recommend not staying right in that area (noise etc) . We stayed at the Intercontinental The Barclay - loved the hotel - next door to Grand Central Stn , and Times Sq and Theatre District was not a far walk (we had two teenagers who did not complain-so it must not have been a hike: :) Suggest you hold off and watch the "Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins" to get a feel for what's being won for the time period that you'll be in NYC. Also, when you're ready to bid, bid only for the 1st night of your stay - that way if you don't like what you get you can try again for your subsequent nights ...BUT - if you're happy with your win - these sites then offer you the option of extending your stay for the duration of your trip @ your winning bid rate . :)

Do all rooms need to be at the same hotel or would it be acceptable if the rooms were split between 2-3 different hotels?

Preferable if they were all at the same hotel....but I know that it is highly unlikely given the

number of rooms required, i.e 20 rooms.

Can I assume that if we bid in the same area MTW...the hotels will be relatively close.

This number may come down as we may have to go with a tour operator for the school grp/teachers...the parents would be booking on their own, which is where Priceline and Hotwire will come into play.

We're in the very preliminary stages of planning...so this is only "info gathering" at this point.
