After much bidding in several zones between 4* and 3 1/2* - I won a 4* $180 Upper West Side for the Empire Hotel for 11/26 - 11/30.
So this strategy did not work - should I lower to 3.5 in those zones, split my stay, or add the 4* Downtown or Empire State Bldg zone?
I would like not to pay over $200 per night. I haven't researched all 3.5* hotels on the possible lists, so I don't know if there are any to watch out for. I have not been to NYC before, so I don't know about the other 2 zones as far as being "too far out". I also wouldn't mind splitting the stay into 2 if that is the better next option.

Can you suggest a starting bid or strategy for a NYC stay 11/26 - 11/30 (dates are pretty set). From reviewing the hotel list, I would like to stay at 4* in the TS, MTE, MTW, or CPS. I am hoping to stay under $200, but don't know if that is a reasonable request for the time of year. Thank you.

The better bidding site lists 2.5 - Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge (on Priceline it is listed as a 3*) & Fairfield Suites Gatlingburg North (but I am wondering if that would be considered Gatlinburg)
Priceline also lists 2.5 - 2 Hampton Inn, Country Inn, & Holiday Inn Express
From the reviews, it seems all of these properties would be ok, though the Holiday Inn had many negative reviews, they seem to stem from their renovations last year.
