  1. 4* HOTWIRE Museum Quarter - Vondelpark for $80.00

    Park Plaza Vondelpark

This was indeed the Park Plaza Vondelpark.

When I first looked at booking this only twin bedded rooms were showing, so I continued bidding on Priceline up to $90 pn.

As I was having no joy with PRICELINE I returned to HOTWIRE and found there was now a Queen bedded room available and booked it immediately. In my haste I forgot to use the discount code but this is still a very good deal IMHO.

So new Hotel for us and first time using HOTWIRE. I will post my comments on the hotel following my stay.

  2. So I have done my research using the links and BiddingHelper.com. I can see NH Museum Quarter as a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $99 and $110 as a members deal.

I have stayed here before and am happy to do so again. I plan on starting at $50 and using my free rebid zones working in $5 increments.

Any my comments on my strategy?  I will of course report the outcome. Wish me luck.

  3. Hi all,

I am used to bidding on the NYOP in Amsterdam but never normally this time of year. I have to be in Sweden at the start of the week so thought I would tag a few days on in Amsterdam.

My research showed vastly higher prices than I would expect and a bit of searching has revealed that there is a large music festival in town.

What are people's experience in these cases? Is inventory likely to be released to NYOP or will it all be retail?

  4. I was fairly sure I would get a deal here because it was apparent that this was on offer under express deals at $64/night.

It took a couple nights bidding up in increments from $50 until tonight when I hit at $58.

This is the cheapest i have seen Amsterdam for about 4-5 years. Looks a good time to grab a bargain.

I of course used the PRICELINE link, and have stayed here a number of times over recent years and not had a bad stay.

  5. I started bidding for 5* rooms on NYE from $70-78 and 4* from $64-70

For the first few days I had nothing but yesterday, 01/02/12, when I bid $70 on 4* I had a counter offer of $84

I rebid $72 using my free rebid zone and got the same $84 counter offer

Tonight I bid $72 without sucess but got it for $73

I won this property last year and I'm more than happy with my booking at 36% of rack rate.

I used the PRICELINE link at the top right to start my research and bids each night.

  6. I had a few bids, using free rebid zones, at 5* properties in Amsterdam but nothing coming up not even a counter offer so I lowered my bid and went 4* and got this one on the first bid.

This is 47.7% of rack rate on NH hotels site, €113.10 pn for these dates.

I suggest anyone bidding for 4* in AMS for late Feb 2011 start at $55-$60 mark as this is 2 bids accepted at $75 and $72 within a few days of each other.

  7. I had emailed the hotel to ask for a double/king not twin bedded room as we were a couple and celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary.

On arrival they had put us in the royal wing on the 6th floor, so we had a large room with a balcony. Very nice indeed. Never ate at the hotel so can't comment on the restaurant or food.

I would suggest using your do not disturb sign though, as housekeeping were a little over enthusiastic wanting to service the room. She was ringing our bell at 8:45, when she enquired if we were checking out today I told her "yes, but later."
