  1. Was really disappointed with this hotel. I let Hotwire know in my feedback. Felt that this hotel was not accurately represented on Hotwire. It said the rooms were Suites and they were not suites. To me, a suite needs to have at least 2 distinct areas - this was basically one room. It also failed to mention that these rooms have a cooktop. If I had known that, I wouldn't have purchased the room - I don't want to sleep in my kitchen. Plus this hotel smelled like ethnic food. I like ethnic food, just not where I sleep.

  2. Sheraton Suites Galleria Atlanta

    Marietta

    2844 Cobb Parkway Southeast

    Atlanta, Georgia 30339

    770-955-3900

    $50 + $14.56 = $64.56 total

    Amenities Listed on acceptance page:

Remote Control TV with Premium Channels

    Telephone with Voicemail

    Radio Alarm Clock

    Iron and Ironing Board

    Hairdryer

    Business Services

    24 Hour Front Desk

    Full Service Restaurant

    Room Service

Started bidding at $35 and it took several bids before being accepted. This was my last bid - I was about to give up and buy the one listed on Hotwire for $53. A little more than I was hoping to pay based on recent wins but still a great deal at $50 - this looks like a great hotel. Of course, I used the PRICELINE link from Better Bidding.

  3. Courtyard By Marriott Cumberland Center

    Marietta

    3000 Cumberland Circle

    Atlanta, Georgia 30339-3123

    $51.83 including taxes

    Started bidding 4* Marietta $50 - declined

    Added Smyrna (no 4*, 3.5*, 3* in that area) $55 - declined

    Added Forest Park-Riverdale (no 4*, 3.5*, 3* in that area) $60 - declined

    Added 3.5* $35 - declined

    Added Jonesboro (no 4*, 3.5*, 3* in that area) $36 - declined

    Added Stockbridge (no 4*, 3.5*, 3* in that area) $37 - declined

Next day, saw the post from another user that the Marriott Northwest was purchased as 3*

    Started bidding 3* Marietta - $38 - declined

Asked me to increase my bid by $10 and try again without changing anything - I declined this offer

    Added Smyrna - $39 - accepted

Thought I would get the Marriott but got the Courtyard - I am happy with this because I like this location better.

Of course, used the PRICELINE link on Better Bidding.

  4. I'm very familiar with the hotels in the Perimeter area. The 3* you are describing sounds like the Comfort Suites...I haven't stayed at this hotel but it looks nice...better than the typical Comfort Inn. There is also a 3* Hyatt Place nearby. My recommendation is to book one of the 3.5* or 4* hotels in the area. The 4* hotels include the W Hotel, Westin and Crowne Plaza Ravinia. The W is listed with the Spa ammenity...and they charge for parking. The Crowne Plaza and Westin are both nice, they have free parking (unless you valet), and have shuttle service to the MARTA station. Both have fluctuated between 3.5* and 4* over the past 2 years. I personally prefer the Westin.

The 3.5* hotels in the area include the Hilton Suites, Embassy Suites and Marriott. All have shuttle service to the MARTA station. You will most likely get the Hilton Suites. If you get the Kitchenette icon, it is likely the Embassy Suites. I haven't seen the Marriott on this board in about a year. I've stayed at the Hilton Suites and like it a lot. You can't go wrong with any of these 3 hotels and the price is usually very good.

  5. Check in Fri July 17th

    Check out Sun July 19th

    Fitness

    Pool

    Restaurant

    Business

    Internet

    Thanks for any help!

I believe there are only four 3.5* hotels in this area:

    Hilton Suites

Crowne Plaza Ravinia (although the board says it is now a 4*)

    Embassy Suites

    Marriott Perimeter

The Embassy Suites usually has the Kitchenette icon, so I would eliminate it.

If the Crowne Plaza is a 4*, we can eliminate it.

The Marriott is rarely on Hotwire - I haven't seen it on the board in about a year.

Therefore, if I was a betting man, I'd say it is the Hilton Suites. Especially since the price is $42...that is right around where they usually price this hotel.

All are nice hotels - I've stayed at them all at least once.

  6. Also, does anyone know if anything big is happening in Atlanta that weekend? I tried Googling but I didn't see anything that would cause the hotels to fill up.

    TIA

Yes, Americasmart is having a huge show during that time. The Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings Market www.americasmart.com

The peak of the show is July 10-14. They have appx. 40,000-60,000 attendees.

You will have a hard time finding any downtown, midtown or buckhead hotels that weekend. I would try Perimeter or Marietta 3.5* or 4* hotels. The Marietta 3.5* and 4* hotels are located near Cumberland Mall (I-285 and I-75)...so it's not *really* Marietta. All of the 3.5* and 4* Perimeter hotels are nice and usually a good value.

  7. Does your listing also show Smoke Free? I'm seeing "Smoke Free, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access". This makes it a very close, but not exact, match for the Hyatt Place. If it were certain as the Hyatt Place I'd say jump on it, but since it's not a lock you might not be comfortable risking it.

Since it's not for certain, you may want to consider the 4* for $53/night listed with "Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis" which is almost certainly the Westin North Perimeter. You'll have to pay for parking and breakfast, but it's almost certain, a better property than the Hyatt Place (though likely a smaller room), and a MUCH better property than some of the other unknowns that are passing for 3* in this area (Holiday Inn Select recently downgraded to 3*, Comfort Inn/Suites, and a converted Wyndham).

This is a good recommendation - except you do not have to pay for parking at the Westin, unless you use valet parking. You can usually get the Westin for around $50/night. There's also a good selection of 3.5* hotels in the area: Hilton Suites, Crowne Plaza Ravinia, Marriott.
