  1. There are quite a few major events happening the weekend I am staying. There is a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for $76 at the OHare Westin that looks tempting. I am willing to use public transport. I am carpooling into town and likely flying out.

i am attending an event in Lincoln Park on the 14th. I have to enter at Barry and Lakeshore. I am not finding a lot really close to that area.

Should i I try biding for something more downtown? Which area? Would prefer to spend under $100 a night. Prices overall are pretty high. The hour train and bus doesn’t sound fun, but payingless for a hotel is important. I am buying a 3 day CTA pass either way.

  2. I think the area names must have changed. This says Chicago loop theatre district.

  3. Thanks for the response. I went to the site and saw that they offer to "extend your stay", but before I try that do you know if this works for attempting to add day(s) before the confirmation date? Our situation is to add the day before our reservation date.

When you click add days it will not automatically do it, it will ask you which days you want to add. I have had it accept or turn down additional days.

  4. We are planning on spending 1-2 nights in Washington DC on our way home from Williamsburg and Jamestown. We are trying to spend less than $100 a night, including parking.

We are a couple with one small child.

We have had tons of luck on this site, so I thought I would ask for advice.

We plan on hitting a couple museums, but that is about it.

What does parking run in DC? We are cool with using public transportation and walking places, we just want to leave the car at the hotel.

What area would be the most convenient, safe and best price? I am willing to pay a bit more, but not much.

  5. DD4 is Dear Daughter 4. It's something I picked up on Disboards. I wasn't sure if it was a standard bulletin board term.

Double Occupancy isn't an issue, if we get a king we can sleep together. Not three adults.

I've only ever used the extra night option once, and it was last year. We had two nights in Cleveland and decided to leave a day early. I think we decided to leave at like six in the vening and Priceline let us book our extra night for that day.

Is there ever a time when Priceline doesn't offer you the extra nights? I was planning on bidding one night and then adding extra if we needed it. Does that work?

Thanks for the help. I figure this adds a little to the adventure. We used to road trip using mom and pops or knights inn as a kid.

I don't mind a mom and pop. I might book one night using Hotels.com so I can definately get an indoor pool for a night or two.

I am just too cheap not to use priceline. I've never tried hotwire, I was thinking of trying it this time for a pool, but it doesn't distinguish between indoor and outdoor.

Oh, and I can hook my pda up and use that for the internet, so technically I don't need to stop. If DH is driving at least. I'm not that much of a multitasker.

I am a little concerned about security, but I thought since I have a priceline profile it should be safe.

  6. Good Evening-

My DH, DD4 and I were planning on meandering down from Detroit and visiting Columbus, Louisville, Nashville and St Louis. I was thinking of doing some same day bidding, since we won't be sure of where we are going when. Like, we may decide to skip St Louis and stay on Nashville longer.

What kind of luck have you guys had with same day bidding? Do you think it's too risky. We are willing to stop at a mom and pop if we have to just to sleep.

I figured since you can almost always find wireless it would be worth a try.

  7. Good Evening-

When you get the final price when bidding on PL/HW is that it for car rental? I get insurance through my CC, so I think the rental insurance is a waste, but no matter what I always end up paying more for a rental car than I was quoted.

Pretend I am bringing the car back full of gas. Could I walk out at the price I pay today when I bid?

This makes a big difference right now. I bid once and didn' get it, so I was going to go up to $5 more per day.

I can get $150 through the companies, and @ $20 a day my end price was $120.

I come in @ 9. but leave @ 6am, so it's 3 days nine hours. I could get Avis for $109 if I was picking up the car @ noon, but the promo I have won't work for less than four days. SO basically I have their car less time, but they are charging me more.

I was wondering if I booked it @ noon but called and said I couldn't make it until 9, if I could get the promo price. $40 could buy me lots of trinkets at WDW.

    Thanks!

  8. Good Morning!

I have a Disney Vacation booked December 8-11. I opted not to book the 7th because I bought dining and wouldn't know what to do with four days worth of food.

Also, Disney is jam packed on the 7th. I couldn't get a standard room at my moderate resort.

So... I am flying in @ 9pm. We are renting a car (bidding from the links here, no win yet, but I knew I was low) and driving out to flights of fantasy on the 8th.

So we don't need any amenities, just a clean place to take a shower and find breakfast nearby. No time for swimming.

Should I go near the airport or Disney? My only concern is that I would like to go to my resort early on the 8th and check in (so I can request a room close to things).

What star level should I opt for? I would like a good price (under $50 would be great, then I wouldn't feel so rough about the $150 I am to have to pay for a car).

    Thanks in advance.

I've been lurking this site for awhile. Let me know where to post my wins on Priceline. Most of them are from before I found better bidding, but they are still wins.
