This was the Hotel I anticipated and I got to use $25 HotDollars from a previous negative Hotwire Experience.
The Hotwire rate is comparable to the advanced non-refundable rate available through the Hotel Website.
The following were the listed amenities:
Complimentary Breakfast
Laundry Facilities (self-service)
High-Speed Internet Access
Received this property for a single evening 6/24 and was very dissappointed. This is a former Days Inn that is not in good condition. Selling this as a 2*Hotel is not acceptable. Paint is peeling off the walls, there was standing water in the tub and a very sparse breakfast spread.
In addition - the Hotel had an issue processing payment from Hotwire (my credit card had been charged) and they wouldn't let me check in until I paid again. I was uncomfortable with this and was on hold with Hotwire Customer Service for over 40 minutes - only to be told that I should pay again and then request a refund from Hotwire. I've since followed-up as I think was poor customer service from both the Hotel and Hotwire.
I hadn't been too impressed by the offerings for this Holiday weekend, but this morning a 2.5* Star Option showed up for $61. The amenities listed were breakfast, pool, business and golf. Ended up with Cavalier Inn - which is newly renovated with all non-smoking rooms. The non-smoking is a great amenity as I ended up on the smoking floor at the Doubletree last year and would never risk ending up there again.
Helped a friend travelling down Route 44. The Super 8 was approximately $65 through the hotel site. Bid $37 for a 2.5* and was not succesful - added 2* and got this hotel. With taxes it totalled to $48.42.
The Red Roof Inn seems much nicer than what you might have ended up with at the 1* or 2** level.
That is Parents Weekend at UVA - so it will likely be busy weekend.
As a warning - the Doubletree tends to dump smoking rooms on its PRICELINE guests particualrly during busy times - so if that is a problem for you - be cautious.
I've been trying these dates for a while and was finally succesful at $68. The total for 2 nights was $159 - nearly $100 less than the best rate on the hotel website.
I used the PRICELINE links to start this reservation.
As I mentioned in my Charlottesville Priceline post, I've been trying these same dates for a few weeks. It seems like a 3* is going to be considerably higher than $50.
I've been trying these dates for a few weeks. $68 for a 3* was not accepted, tried 2.5 & $64 and got the Residence Inn. Seems like a good deal for a holiday weekend. I had tried the same combination last week and it wasn't accepted.

Got this on my first try of $51, making a total cost of $66. Tried a price lower than the $65 Express Bid. However, this must be a different hotel as the express deal includes breakfast.
