  1. Just a very humble suggestion: would it be possible, since it would certainly be easier to read, rather than to clump all other countries together, to have sub-categories - Europe, Asia, etc. - and then within those - by country - France, Great Britain, Germany, China, etc. It would be so much easier to read and to read through past winning bids.

  2. I mentioned splitting your bid in your London thread. Here there was a bit of a pattern, with sometimes the weekend days being higher and sometimes the weekdays being higher. Maybe caused by tourist vs. business hotels? In any case, bidding that first Fri and Sat separate from the rest of your dates might help.

Thanks so much for this tip also. We may very well try this. It would be a bit of a pain, but I'm wiling to try anything at this point.

  3. Thanks so much for your very helpful tips.

    Nope, no counter-offers yet. :)

My husband and I looked at the hotels list once again as well as winning bids that others have posted. We realized that there are far more 4 star PL hotels than 3 stars. And at times the price for a 4 star doesn't seem to be significantly more than what I'm close to paying with a 3 star. Maybe $10 or $20 more ... we figure, we may as well bid on 4 stars rather than on 3. And just bid a bit more, increasing it by $3 increments each day until hopefully we get something.

  4. We're a family of four - and because of that - we have to bid for 2 separate rooms.

I've been bidding unsuccessfully for over 2 months at 4 stars. Yet, the rates for 4 Stars are far beyond our budget, mainly due to the fact that we have to bid for 2 rooms.

So, now we're forced to bid for 3 stars.

Our dates: June 24th-July 1st. Yes, we know that those are peak summer months, but that cannot be changed.

    Our zones are 3, 4, 6, and 7.

St. Germain - Latin Quarter – Montparnasse

Eiffel Tower – Porte de Versailles – Montparnasse

Champs Elysees - Opera Quarter West

Opera Quarter East - Les Halles

    * Are 3 Stars in Europe really all that bad :)? I'm a bit concerned by some negative reports. Yet, the 3 stars are chains - Novotel, Thistle, etc. How bad could they really be?

    * Our last few bids for a 3 star in almost all zones have been in the mid-high $80 US dollar range. Last time, we bid for a 3-star for $89. How high should we go? I'm getting frustrated after bidding every single day for more than 2 months :) .

Yes, I will use your links from now on :o .

    Thank you.

Our zones are fairly flexible. I just don't particularly care for Wembley or the Docklands. Maybe, Docklands if we absolutely have to. But I'm pretty sure that Wembley is just too far.
