  1. By the way, this was a great stay. Since it's been almost a year I had to think back to why I would have needed a hotel in ATL on this date, but I figured it out :)

Rooms were nice, with great linens and the staff were extremely helpful. The valet went to my car and got my cell phone when I realized I had left it in there after he had already parked it (I tipped him of course) and they had a courtesy van that would take you anywhere around town (within reason - they probably had a milage limit, but we only used it to go up the street and back). Overall, recommended and I'd stay here again happily.

  2. On a whim I bid on priceline for a 3* for a stay on 4/26 (a saturday night) after not being happy with my options on hotwire. Location in Midtown was important to me. I guess I should have started lower b/c my first bid of $55 was accepted. Not sure about this property, but the location is perfect.

  3. I thought this board was for travel advice? doesn't holiday travel fall into that? I always feel like a kid with their hand in the cookie jar when I post here....like I am always doing something wrong and end up being scolded. I can give you specific details if that is the problem....

Nashville to Boston (Manchester, NH also an option)

    Dates between 12/22/07 - 1/1/08 For a 4 - 5+ night stay

    $250 and under.

    AND

    Los Angeles to St. Louis

    12/24/07 - 12/27/07 FIRM

    Wants to spend under $400

  4. What's the best advice for booking holiday travel? I, and many of my friends, are 20-somethings with not a lot of money and usually can only buy our tickets 3-4 weeks in advance.

For example, my friend's flight from LA to St. Louis for 12/24/07 - 12/27/07 went up $50 making it well over $400 for this minimal 3 day stay....should she go ahead and book it in fear of more rising prices or wait and see if another deal comes along

  5. Boutique Hotel, Fitness Center, Restaurant

This hotel gets a bad review sometimes because it is in need of some updates, but it's in a great location and has great character. It has the feel of a little European hotel that most chains don't have. Drawbacks: Only one elevator, rooms need updating, rooms drafty in the winter, room can be small, each room only has one bed. Pluses: Free WIFI in lobby, friendly staff, great location.

My friend and I started out with a GREAT corner suite with a separate sleeping and living area, TWO bathrooms, a GIANT queen bed, and a pull out love seat. I thought I had a great find and couldn't believe that people had written bad reviews for this hotel. The suite had plenty of windows, which I loved......UNTIL my friend and I woke up from our naps and it was FREEZING in the room - literally like 60 degrees in the room. After numerous calls to the front desk all they could tell us is that the heat was working fine...and chalked it up to the cold weather and the amount of drafty windows and requested another room....where we got DOWNGRADED. All they had was a small room with only one double bed and a smaller bathroom. The room was musty smelling, but it was WARM. Uncomfortably, we stayed one night, but after checking Hotwire again I found I could get the W on Lakeshore for just $23 more!!! The front desk manager kindly said she'd notify Hotwire of my refund for the unused night and we checked out and moved over to the W.

I did get my refund for the unused night, but I had to call Hotwire after a couple weeks and they had to call the hotel to verify my refund - which was done promptly.

  6. A friend of mine and I were just looking for a cheap stay near downtown Miami. What a mistake. I realize this was a 1-star rating, but I feel like this hotel shouldn't even be operating and hotwire shouldn't be partnering with them. We felt like we would get a disease from the room. We were put into a room with two twin beds for our double occupancy. The front desk refused to give us a refund when we were unsatisfied because "we have been here longer than an hour and a lot of people just use the room for their 'business' (i.e. sex) and then want to leave" So basically its a prostitute motel?

I dont have the amenities, since I booked it on 7/19/07 but it didn't have much to offer :)
