  1. Thanks for your help - I left it a day or two to confirm everything and of course when I went back, it had disappeared from inventory so I'll make other arrangements - moral of the story is that if you have decided, move before it goes.  I have noticed lately that both PL and HW shift inventory earlier and that prices seem to rise closer to the date.  This seems to be a newer phenomenon so I'll start jumping on things quicker in future.

  4. Hi, we quite often get the Radisson when we try for London Ont, it's an older property which is starting to show somewhat, but it is a great location, sleep number beds, an OK gym and a great swimming pool. Staff are very pleasant and friendly, very helpful. Attached restaurant serves pretty decent food although atmosphere is somewhat lacking.

At least the complimentary parking is a bonus compared to the Armories downtown.

  5. Good morning all, has anyone recently had any success with a Priceline bid in Vancouver downtown for a 3* ?? I'm constantly bidding on 3, 3.5 and 4 stars but not coming up with anything for July 11 - 13.

I'd like to succeed with a 3* bid as last time we landed the Coast which we really liked but I haven't see any advisory traffic for Vancouver other than the 4* which seems to focus on either the Hyatt or the Delta. I don't see anything to give me a comparative pricing strategy other than a 4*.

    thanks for your input.

  6. Hi all, I know it's a bit of a vague question, but we are looking to book a 2/3 night stay in downtown Vancouver in mid-July. Would any experienced bidders be able to give us an idea as to whether midweek would be a better bet or to try for the weekend?

My initial thoughts would be weekend, but it's cruise season and I wonder whether this might impact on availability.

    Many thanks

  7. If you plan to have no luggage or hand baggage and are in training for the olympics it's possible, otherwise consider some sort of transport to the nearest hotels - it's a slog from T3 to even the nearest hotels on Bath Rd. I would check out hotels that lie within the Heathrow Airport "freeflow" zone if you don't want to cab it or take the Heathrow Hoppa (an absolute ripoff in my opinion). Freeflow allows you to travel free of charge on public transport - most major hotels on Bath Rd lie within the zone. We have had excellent experiences via PRICELINE with the Sheraton Skyline and the Heathrow Sheraton.

  8. Many hotels charge for occupancy greater than two (extra towels, cleaning of towels and sheets, water use, soap and other amenities, wear and tear, etc, etc) as well as also providing an incentive to book two rooms instead of one.

If you book quad occupancy and only show up with two there is no problem.

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know how it goes and what you end up with.

  9. Note: the Sheraton Skyline does NOT have a free shuttle. LHR forbids hotels from offering their own shuttle service. You have to take the Hotel Hoppa which charges an exorbitant UKL 4 per person each way. That means for two people, it's UKL 16 round trip. The Skyline is on the local bus service routing which at the moment is free under a scheme called Freeflow to encourage employees at LHR to use public transport. We took this service last year and it was not only quicker than the Hoppa, but more frequent.

  10. Bid $57 just prior to this winning bid. That first bid was met with the if you bid $17 more you can bid again notice. This hotel was available for $69 on HOTWIRE and that was how I determined to bid this way.

Total with tax and fees $78.04.

canu clarify your bidding strategy? I tried the same for Oct 21 and got the "add $17" panel. I tried expanding to London Luton and offering $60 but no dice. How did you enter your second attempt? did you bid a second time on another day or what?

    thanks

  11. **!!@@ - i debated whether to book it straight away in case it would change - i was on very early this morning and the amenities breakdown for both the 2.5* and the 3* were identical..... the 2.5* was priced at 59 and the 3* at 102 so it looks like it's been revised already.

From your experience theraure, can hotels come into the system and clear that quickly or was it likely a mis-entry by Hotwire and was never available in the first place this morning?

    best regards
