  1. I have to correct myself. I bid up to $199 with no success. I did get an offer (not counter) just a you can book a room now for $286. I was bidding on a 4* with this last rejection. I can't remember if I ever tried a 3* in that area because I did trying bidding a couple of months ago. I don't want the Vatican but will look at that option as a laaaaast resort. I looked at Hotels.com, Expedia... and those rates for anything central were crazy. Does anyone know of a good site to book a cancelable reservation. I even emailed a small hotel I found in R. Steves book but no reply, rates were 120euro pn. The book stated if you don't get a response it means no rooms, I would still like to read SORRY NO AVAILABILITY but I digress. Thanks for the help!

  2. I will be in Rome 10/24-28/2008. I want to stay in Central Rome. So far none of my bid have been accepted, obviously. I have gone as far as $169. I'm not panicked because time is still on my side but by end of June I will start to sweat. The Vatican zone was not really on my radar. Should this be an option for me? Thanks :)

  3. I had booked 2 different hotels, 2 rooms at each, for 1 night each. Now one of the parties can't go because their teenage son got into a lot of trouble. We only need 1 of the rooms at both hotels instead of 2.

Neither of the hotels would give us points or refunds because we booked through Priceline. We still haven't officially canceled the extra rooms yet, just started making calls.

I called priceline and of course their customer service lines weren't being answered.

Has anybody ever had success at getting a refund?

I know they charge $25 pn/per room to xcl.

  4. I have been reading about rebidding techniques and I am less confused which is a good thing. I was wondering instead of adding a new zone when your original bid is rejected can you just select a lower star rating and bid outrageously low? For example:

I want downtown philly 4* for $60 pn I bid $60, it's rejected. Instead of clicking on a new area like airport or something I just change it to a 3* and then bid $10. That of course is rejected then I go back to 4* with a higher increment say $70. In the past when my bids have been rejected I NEVER changed the area (zone).

Thanks in advance for the insight.
