Hi, first time user here. 

We're travelling into NYC on the 27th of sept to 1st of October. (check out 1st oct)

Our group consists of 2 couples (total 4 adults) and we're looking for hotels in the NYC area for 4 nights.

Acceptable 4* to 5* accomodation. 

Budget ard $130-150 per room per night (not sure if this is a stretch, otherwise we'd be looking at an apartment rental)

Looking at ard Madison Square Garden - Convention Area, or Chelsea hotels.

Would PRICELINE / HOTWIRE be a good place to start?
