  1. First of all - again thanks so much for your help.

I bid today, knowing that rates probably have gone up since February 20.

I bid in DKK and not in USD. I won at DKK 1,045/night which is approximately USD 152/night when looking at Google's live rate.

I used the strategy you provided in your previous post, starting out with Lower East Side and SoHo, and added re-bid zones which didn't offer hotels with 4,5+*. I ended up getting Hotel Indigo in Lower East Side which I'm very happy about.

I won in my 15th bid, which means I had at least 14 re-bids.

I will post this as a win and recommend your site to my entire network. -- Thanks so much - I'm even more excited about my trip now!

  2. Thank you for feedback,

I think I understand both service a little better now.

And I'm glad to see that you're very familiar with NYC, since I could use some guidance and have never myself booked a hotel through Hotwire, nor Priceline.

Basically my criteria for this trip are:

    1) Location - East Village/Lower East Side (I have friends in Williamsburg as well as in Dumbo - and I personally like areas like East Village, Chelsea, Soho, and Greenwich Village - so it seems like a convenient location in regards to my plans.

    2) Quality - I would be the most comfortable staying at a 4+ * hotel, if I'm not sure, what my hotel would be. From looking at your Priceline and Hotwire lists for NYC, it seems that the hotels vary a lot in quality for the same category.

    3) Price - I would be comfortable paying US$ 115/night (is this even realistic?) I was also thinking of making a bid around US$ 140/night on a 4.5* hotel in Lower East Side (but that seems low to me, when Priceline list the median retail price at US$226 for this area. What do you think?)

Please let me know if you have any alternatives or good ideas.

Thank you so much in advance - I'm so grateful for your help!

    Best regards, Adam

  3. Could you help me identify this hotel?

My travel dates are March 10-17, and Hotwire are asking for USD 126 for a 4* hotel in city zone Lower East Side - East Village area.

    Hotel features are:

    Complimentary

    Free Internet

    Amenities

    Business centerFitness center

I am also trying to figure out if PRICELINE is generally cheaper? If I bid on a hotel - is my bid ex. taxes and fees? It seems like taxes and fees are a lot higher that the ones at HOTWIRE - so I should probably make an even lower bid to get a better price that at Hotwire, right?

Thanks in advance - I'm so glad I found this side - and I'm using the links from your side when going on HOTWIRE and PRICELINE :)

    Best regards,

    Adam
