  1. Thank you for the Intercontinental heads up! It was the one we wanted more...

So I tried 12/09 thru 12/13 - 4 nights and Hotwire gave me a price of $161 - still a better deal adding the 4th night at this rate as the rack rate is over $200.

I then went ahead and used your Intercontinental link and booked $269 for the first night - slurged on a King Suite! ....I am hoping they let them stay in that room the entire stay:)....what are our chances?

    Here was the final booking:

  2. Hi there,

Looking to book a nice hotel for parents this weekend through the week - dates 12/8/12 - 12/13/12.

Everything 8th - 13th is coming up as nearer the $250 mark for this area and 4 1/2 star, so I split the search (in reverse!)....

I am getting an offer of $131 for the nights 12/10 - 12/13 same 4 1/2 star - amenities as follows:

Indoor Pool, Fitness Centre, Restaurant, BUsiness Centre, High Speed INternet, Accessible for Blind/Deaf/path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible parking, Handicapped Parking, ROll in shower, 95 % recommended.

Low and behold I also have the choice of:

    $142 same amenities!

I am thinking they are the Taj and the Intercontinental - Any chance of a confirmation and knowing which is which and if you are a san fran'er which would you prefer!?:)

My stratergy is to get one of these and then book through their own website for first two nights - still saving a whole chunk this way for a nice hotel...

Lastly, I can get the $131 price for 12/9 thru 12/13 as well but not the other choice so does this help with identification??

    Many thanks,

    Paly:)

  3. Nightmare getting 2 rooms for this area at a decent price.

Started with Rochester area and 3*deluxe at 47 dollars...53....66...68....77....86...still nothing...added north rebid nothing...

Added 2 1/2 star in new window to Rochester area - bid up to 81! nothing!

Kept closing browser after asking if I wanted to rebid at $111 immediately!

I was allowed to try same criteria with more $ just by closing browser!?...Don't quite know how this worked..

In the end bid $98 for 3* as a lot more on rack rate and succeeded!

    Courtyard by Marriott St Mary's.

Needed a room for Mayo visit so happy to get something! Hope hotel is ok...:)

  4. Sorry about the NYC lapse in follow up! Will do that right now:)

Thanks for the great tips on the hotel and surroundings - Unfortunately I checked this feedback when back in Iowa:P...Still more excuse to go again! I agree this Hyatt was v nice indeed...didn't manage to see the garden or eat in the restaurant - was such a short trip! Went to Reza's downtown!! Very nice indeed. And then stayed around Schaumburg before picking up father-in-law at O'Hare (main reason for visit!)....Wanted to go to Ikea as love it! And knew it was in Schaumburg but had no idea it was 1 block from hotel! Will have to go back...

More about Hyatt Schaumburg - Upon check-in v late asked for 1 bed which she had already reserved..Room was very large indeed! Lots of room for baby crib and there was a sofa too...extremely clean sheets and nice shower in bathroom - no tub....let us check-out 1 hour later which we then didn't need but very nice stay indeed.

    THank you BB as always:)

  5. When I went to check Hotwire again it had gone!

I went back to Priceline bidding for the Marco Island are with the other non-resort zones and bid:

100, 120, 130 and then it said wait 15 mins for the answer - It rejected that - Tried 140 and got it!

Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort And Spa

    Marco Island

    560 South Collier Boulevard

    Marco Island, Florida 34145

    $140 plus tax $165.17 total

    Rack rate is $249 plus!

    Thanks BB!

    Paly:)

  6. I'm seeing on Hotwire - Naples Area Hotel

    4 Star

    now $180!

Resort, Near Beach, Smoke-Free Rooms, Pool, Restaurant, Business Centre, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby

Recommended in 80% of Customer Reviews..

Marriot Marco Island is now $293 cheapest (sheesh that went way up from 2 days ago)

Marco Island HIlton cheapest is $249 (Seniors $199 - not sure if we can take that into account)

Looks like prices have gone up - not that I had any luck with the lower bids anyway!?

  7. Thanks guys...I was thinking I could go up a little more - maybe to 140 but I when I get too near the rack rate I figure it's better I pay direct so I know what room I am getting etc and maybe a deal with b'fast etc....

Hyatt I have seen is sold out but I think it is showing up on hotwire for 166!? I maybe wrong and this maybe another hotel??

So since a couple of days have lapsed - should I drop my bid from 120 to see if anything has changed and then increase to 140 mark??

    Thanks,

    Paly:)

  8. Used links on BB to PRICELINE and did the following...

Bid in these increments for Resort Zone of Marco Islands and used the other 'non-resort' zones...

    $75, 81, 86, 91, 96, 100, 104, 108, 115, $120...

    Still not sucessful.

Am thinking of going onto Bonita area for the Hyatt without this zone at these same prices and then take it from there.

Any stratergies other than that much appreciated:)

  9. Hello!

Hubby and I are due to fly into NYC on 11/19 and fly out on 11/21 - Could you suggest any stratergies, prices, areas to get a good deal for 4* or above - would love a 4 1/2 or 5 *.

Budget - would love to be around 200 but will be happy to pay more (250-275) per night if needed.

I think we would prefer the upper west/east side or around 5th Ave - not really keen on Time Square or too far down in the financial district etc.

    Thanks!

    Paly:)
