  3. Well my "backup" hotel was the Park Shore in Waikiki for $170. I booked it and everything (refundable, of course). I was quite determined to rid myself of this after reading about it---definitely not worth it at that price. I've been bidding on Priceline for a few weeks now. I'm guessing the high prices for rooms must have something to do with decreased availability which I attribute to a weak dollar and many international tourists, but I could be wrong.

    Anyways, I rid myself of the Park Shore just a few hours ago and found a private travel agent in Hawaii (I just googled it) and got the Ohana Waikiki West for $80 a night! I'm quite relieved...
