I was searching the PRICELINE hotel list for betterbidding and it doesn't show no hotels in downtown diseny with a 1 star. I like the choices of the 2 star and would be fine with either of them for a budget trip. I have stayed at the extended stay deluxe before. Can I bid a 1 star hotel and get a 2 star room? I have already bid out my 2 star for today on dates we can travel. I really prefer that area only, so I was thinking what would happen if a bid a higher bid and enter a 1 star. My dates I was looking for is 3/5/11 -3/15/11 give or take a couple days either way to bid

krissymickey,

Yes, you can enter a 1* and bid, as long as you are OK with actually getting a 1*. Priceline might choose to upgrade you to a higher level although it mostly likely won't. If Priceline shows 1* is available for bidding, that does mean there are offerings. It is just that nobody has happened to report a 1* win here. If you look on the retail side of Priceline, you can get an idea of what hotels you might get. Not necessarily those specific ones, but a good general idea.

The other thing I think you should consider is splitting your bid, if you would be OK with moving to another hotel mid-visit. 10 days is a long span and sometimes tricky to get. It also would give you more bids, as you can bid 5 and 5 days, then 4 and 6 days, then 6 and 4 days, etc. Each of these date changes constitutes a "different" bid so Priceline lets you continue bidding in the same 24 hours period.

I DON"T recommend this unless you are willing to accept a 1* hotel (and if you're raising your price from the 2* bid, you risk overbidding for a 1*). Be sure to read the comments at the top of every Priceline Hotel List.

We don't see much 1* bidding on the board and that could easily account for why no 1* hotels are in the hotel lists. If PRICELINE offers 1* bidding in a zone you should assume that they have hotels of this star rating available in the zone. (there may be a handful of examples where it's assumed this is not the case, but best to error on the side of caution and assume that any star level offered is potentially available in the zone)

If your dates are flexible why not add/remove one nite from the beginning or end of your trip as this will enable you to bid again immediately since you've changed your check-in or check-out date.

With 2+ weeks to go before your stay why take unnecessary risk and potentially receive a 1* hotel? Better to change the date as per above (if your plans are truly flexible) or simply wait 24 hours.

Your bidding the LBV-Downtown Disney zone... how much did you bid for a 2 star? What is your maximum bid for this stay?

So what my next question would be does anyone know if there are any 1 star hotels with in pricelines lbv area. When I go into there regular purchase hotels I don't see any 1 star lbv for direct purchase. But surely wouldn't want to be stuck closer to kissimme east or west in a 1 star. That would be scarey

If you bid a zone like LBV, you have to be OK with getting a hotel anywhere within the shaded area of the map you see defining the zones. The one on the right side of the bidding page. You can select a specific zone like the LBV zone, and can then zoom it larger to actual street names and other detail. That map rules!

I'm not sure quite what you mean by getting "...stuck closer to kissimmee east or west", but you if you win in the LBV zone you can end up ANYWHERE on that particular map.

Thanks so much for all the help you guys and gals. I got 2 ressies both within where I wanted and in my price budget. The first one was for 3/5 - 3/8 at extended stay deluxe LBV bid a 2 star got it for $30 a night. The second resssie was for 3/8 - 3/16 got it for $44 a night at holiday inn sunspree LBV. I bid a 2 star on this but won it and see it is a 3 star. The HI does have a resort fee but looks as if it has all been renovated by Trip Advisor reviews so should meet my expectations. Thanks again for the tips on splitting dates, enlarging map, how to bid etc.!

Congratulations on your success(es)!

Glad to see you have this extended stay taken care of and that you're happy with the results.

Please post only one win per thread so that we can reflect the details of the purchase in the topic title of the board and so that each win can have its own link in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. We've used this thread to reflect your first purchase at the Extended Stay Deluxe... can you please start a NEW TOPIC to reflect your purchase of the Holiday Inn Sunspree.

Thank you for sharing your win(s) with the board.
