monica3674
We're visiting Philadelphia from June 22-26. Flying into PHL. I'm not sure whether we should rent a car. If we don't, which areas should we try to stay in? I read their subway system is pretty extensive. We'd like to do the traditional touristy things. Thank you! Link to comment

monica3674
I'm hoping to max out at about $150/night, less would be great. 3* or higher. My kids would like a pool. Link to comment
thereuare
Don't rent a car... parking is a pain, expensive, and the parking authority is notorious for writing lots of tickets and towing cars. How many rooms/adults/children? monica3674
Two adults/two kids. We've always been successful just renting one room, although I know that Priceline only guarantees space for two. Link to comment
thereuare
Not sure if you usually travel to large cities but many Philadelphia hotel rooms are small and hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed (and some hotels may even consider a room with two beds to be an upgrade from standard and charge extra for them)... so the risk is greater vs. a family friendly location such as Orlando where hotels are built to accommodate familiar and have a high percentage of rooms to accommodate more than double occupancy. If you're OK with the occupancy risk were you looking to bid on PRICELINE or something thru PRICELINE EXPRESS? monica3674
I was looking at some of the express deals and noticed the majority of one-bed options. What do families typically do? It seems that name your price would not be a good option this trip. It seems like our best option might be to do a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal where you choose your bed. What areas do you recommend? AaronJB
If you are okay with the risk of one bed, then on PRICELINE EXPRESS (please confirm the correct dates of travel are showing on the detail page after clicking the link below.) 4* Center City East - Convention Center for $154 Pets Allowed Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>A guess would be the Le Meridien Philadelphia - and you can also use the coupon in my signature. 4* Rittenhouse Square - Center City West for $138 Business Center Restaurant Free Internet Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities >>>Guess would be Club Quarters and you can also use the coupon. Neither option has a pool, but both get mostly good reviews. Would either be of interest, or are you seeing any other listings of interest within your desired budget?
