Hi,

I am looking for a nice 5 star hotel on the Strip for a short break with my girlfriend for 3 nights (August 1st to 4th).

Preferably we'd stay at the Cosmopolitan. Second choice would be the Wynn, Encore, or Palazzo.

Also, can I post the selection available at Priceline in a second post in this topic, or do I have to create a new topic on the other forum?

Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion.

Please tell us what it is that you're looking for in a hotel for this trip (and the names of some hotels that you would be happy with), as well as your maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes), and we will try to identify the best options that meet your criteria; this will be much quicker than researching and typing responses to all of hotels that you listed above.

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.

Thanks.

Hi,

Preferably we'd stay at the Cosmopolitan. Second choice would be the Wynn or Encore. Palazzo would be OK as well.

We do want to check out the Strip, so a centrally located hotel would be our preference (hence the Cosmopolitan).

Mandarin or Delano would be other options we would be happy with.

Thanks.

Have you ever been to Las Vegas before?

What is your expected/maximum budget (per nite before fees/taxes)?

This is almost contradictory to your previous comment about being centrally located as the Delano is all the way at the southern end of the strip and not really that conducive to 'hotel hopping', imo.

Just thinking in terms of your Cosmopolitan / Mandarin preferences... what about the Aria, would this be an acceptable option? (just trying to better understand your needs/criteria/goals).  Given the Mandarin is acceptable i assume a casino on-site is not a requirement?

Hi,

Yes, casino on site is not a requirement; we are not much into gambling.

This would be my second stay in Vegas, but my girlfriend's first stay.

I only added Delano as an option as I like how the rooms look.

Our main preference would be the Encore (or Wynn), or the Mandarin or Cosmopolitan. Palazzo or Aria would be OK too; Vdara preferably not.

I am aware that the Encore and Wynn are -like the Delano- not centrally located.

Hope you can help me. Curious to learn whether any of these hotels are [possibly] included on the lists I included in my original posts.

2x

The biggest factor in determining your options is going to your budget, so please let us know your target (and maximum) budget on a per nite basis before fees/taxes.

Not really, imo.  Both are at the ends of the 'main' part of the strip, but there is a critical difference... the Wynn/Encore/Palazzo/Venetian are all newer hotels and 'destination' hotels that should be included in any hotel/casino hopping that you do (in addition to Mirage, Caesars Palace and a host of others nearby... not to mention the new promenade at The Linq which has a bunch of shops including an In and Out Burger which is a tourist destination itself (for those of us not native to the West Coast and don't have access on a daily basis).  On the otherhand the closest hotels to the Delano are Luxor, Excalibur, and Tropicana... none of which are true 'destination' properties.  The North end of the Strip hotels also have the higher end restaurants (vs. the Delano) so you have many more options on a nightly basis.

Lastly, you could moderately walk from Wynn/Encore to mid-strip (~20 minutes?? depending upon how crowded the sidewalks are) whereas from Delano you would more likely head to the back of the hotel, take the monorail to Excalibur, walk thru the hotel, and then start exploring the Strip.

One more thing... although i have never stayed at the Cosmopolitan, i think the Venetian/Palazzo rooms are some of the best on the strip (so personally i wouldn't put these in the "it would be alright but not our preference" category, as the hotels themselves are quite impressive, and the oversized rooms can make anyone feel like a high-roller. (but it's your trip and you know the needs/preferences of you and your girlfriend best, but as i'm fairly knowledgeable about Vegas, my advice would not be so quick to throw these to the bottom of the acceptable list)

So back to the most important thing in order to move forward... budget??

I'm sorry for not posting the budget in my previous reply.

We are looking at $130 max per night (excluding resort fees), so almost all listed will fit the bill, except for the last 2 ones available on Hotwire.

So order of preference is Mandarin (as there is no casino, it will be a bit quieter), Cosmopolitan (also centrally located), Encore/Wynn, or Palazzo/Venetian (in that order).

Hope this makes sense, and again sorry for not being entirely clear the first time.

In just under the wire (confirm your dates on the landing page of the following links):

5* LV Strip - Central West for $129
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess for this offer would be the Cosmopolitan

If trying to compare price vs. others in your preferred list, this is the next best option:

5* LV Strip - NE for $113
Free Parking
Business Center
Restaurant
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> Encore would be my best guess here... but for $16/nite i'm guessing you would prefer to try and target the Cosmo based upon the central strip location

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received a great deal at this property and are pleased with the results.

To confirm, you won this by bidding on PRICELINE, correct? (as opposed to PRICELINE EXPRESS, where i see the offered believed to be the Cosmo is now down to $103/nite)
