4-star Hotel in Union Square East area (San Francisco)

This is our first family visit to SF, I've been told  that Union Square is a good place to stay as a central location for dinning, shopping and transportation...

My best guess for the 4* offer above would be the InterContinental Mark Hopkins... although some distant other possibilities would include the Standford Court, Grand Hyatt San Francisco Union Square, The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square, and the Sir Francis Drake.

Unfortunately there are many no so positive online reviews about this InterContinental property. Also we are planning on doing lots of walking and it seems that the building is a top of a steep hill. So the search continues....

You were right about the InterContinental. Booked (using your HOTWIRE link) for $178 a night, but only for two nights as we have decided to drive down to LA.
