notsowelltravelled
I've never done this before. Should I do north or south? Link to comment

notsowelltravelled
I would love Encore or Wynn and would spend pretty much whatever it took. That said, I'd love to spend the least amount possible to secure it. How should I proceed? THANKS!!!!! Link to comment
thereuare
Using this link to PRICELINE EXPRESS search for your dates... do you see a 5* hotel priced at $342/nite (your price may differ by a buck or two in either direction) with the following amenities: Free Parking Business Center Restaurant Indoor or Outdoor Pool Casino Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ==> best guess for this one would be the Encore Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. notsowelltravelled
I am so upset with myself. I rashly bid 200.00 for Strip North and got Trump. Ugh. So disappointed. Should I be? Is Trump a lot "worse" than Encore/Wynn? Is there any recourse?? Should I try to phone or is that futile? Link to comment
notsowelltravelled
I just looked. There is that precise option. By virtue of having a Casino that choice would have negated the risk of getting the Trump. COrrect? Are the other options "good"? Palazzo or Venetian?? I'm assuming better than trump? Ugh. I should have been more patient. I can't tell you how I appreciate your input. Let me know what I should/could do. Gratefully yours, s Link to comment
thereuare
The Trump is a nice hotel, and if it were anywhere else in the country it would get excellent reviews (as the hotel itself does get very good reviews)... the issue is that it is not directly on the strip (about a 10 minute walk to the Wynn or there is scheduled shuttle service to the Strip) and that there is no casino onsite. I'm not sure of your plans/needs for this trip, but you have to decide how important the issues above are for you this trip and if it's worth nearly $150+ more per nite... with nearly an extra $500 in your pocket to spend/enjoy Vegas could you deal with the 'issues' above? notsowelltravelled
So true. The pool looks drab at Trump and my husband says to splurge (we've had a terrible year and haven't vacationed in almost a year). Trouble is, don't know if Priceline would even do anything for us. Thoughts? Also, I could do the "express" above and get Palazzo or Venetician right? Are they so much "better"? Again, have I mentioned how appreciative I am for your time?? S Link to comment
AaronJB
Sorry to hear about how things have been going. Unfortunately, there's definitely a risk if you try to call that PRICELINE may say there's nothing they can do. If that's the case, rather than losing the money spent on the Trump and booking somewhere else for those same nights, is there any way that you can expand your vacation in terms of adding night/s on the front or back end? I just think there's other routes rather than just losing the money by re-booking and wasting the Trump reservation. The Trump does not have a casino, but this is still a good deal with Expedia showing $332 a night and the hotel does get good reviews. Let us know what you decide and please let us know if we can be of further assistance. notsowelltravelled
Yah. I couldn't just walk away and waste the money. Are you suggesting that they may "bank my dollars" and use towards a different trip? I'm going to try and call priceline and see if there's any recourse. If so, and I end up with the 5* hotel priced at $342/night, are the Palazzo or Venetician better? We want a nice pool and spa. S Link to comment
AaronJB
No, unfortunately. My thought was that if you had planned to spend to replace the Trump reservation with something more of what you are looking for in terms of pool/spa/etc, to instead use the money that you were going to spend replacing your reservation to go towards extending your vacation (if possible) another night or two at a hotel more to your liking (or simply instead use that money to enjoy Vegas.) If you do have to stick with the Trump, it certainly gets very good reviews and the reservation is a solid discount off regular price. Call the Trump, tell them that you're trying to make this a really special getaway and maybe there's something they can do or they can make some suggestions. PRICELINE will likely say no, but you can call them regarding not wanting the Trump and see what they say. Keep us updated and let us know what they say. Link to comment
notsowelltravelled
OK. Thanks. Going to take your advice and let you know. At the end of the day, if they let me alter it (I know realistically they probably won't, but ...) is Palazzo or Venetician nicer? Link to comment
thereuare
They are virtually identical, with the Palazzo being a little newer than the Venetian... but it's a moot point to discuss at the moment, as we don't know if you'll be able to cancel with PRICELINE, and if you are, if the Venetian or Palazzo will be offered for your dates (and perhaps the better deal is the Wynn or Encore). First try to see how you make out with PRICELINE, then we'll take the next step to figure out what your best option(s) are.
