Priceline Hotel: Need help on 9/9 - 9/17, Manhattan Area Hotel, 3+

Hello,

I am looking for a decent hotel for Manhattan area, NY (and vicinity if the price is good) to stay from 9/9/2015 to 9/17/2015.

2 people will stay, and while anywhere in Manhattan is fine, I prefer one closer to the Broadway area.

I would like to save as much as possible, and my budget is 100 per night. I am willing to pay more if the hotel is worth it.

I am new here, and I would like to get some help.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Unfortunately your budget is not realistic for this time of year in NYC. At current rates you will likely need to increase your budget (closer to $150+ per nite), lower your star rating, or stay outside of Manhattan and commute to the city.

To understand pricing for your dates, start with our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com, search 3 miles of Times Square, NYC, then filter the results to show only 3* and higher rated hotels.

What is the best deal you're able to find at an acceptable property?

Thank you for your input.

Is early to mid-September a bad time in a year to stay in NYC?

It looks that there is a huge difference between the hotel price now and in September.

I am wondering if this is because there is still 2 months of time left, or it is just the expensive season in NYC.

$150 range is fine, and I can go up to $200 if needed, but I would like to stay in Manhattan.

January and February are low season in NYC... followed by July/Aug, although we have not seen as big of drop in prices over the summer months the last few years as the economy, and hotel market, are getting stronger. Spring and Fall as considered high-season as the weather is the best... the first two weeks of December are usually quite expensive as well due to the holidays.

Some of what i believe i'm seeing for your dates:

PRICELINE EXPRESS

3* LES Best Western Bowery Hanbee Hotel $143/nite

4* UWS Empire Hotel for $168/nite

3.5* LES Wyndham Garden Chinatown for $185/nite

4* MSG Tryp Times Square South for $195/nite

4* MTW The Jewel for $197/nite

HOTWIRE

3.5* East Village-LES Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side for $153/nite

4* Times Square Millennium Broadway Hotel for $179/nite

Any of the above of interest... or do you want to try bidding on PRICELINE?

Thank you so much. I will start checking out the hotels you listed.

And yes, I would like to try Priceline bidding. Do you see bidding there may help getting a better rate/hotel at my situation now?

I am wondering how negotiable New York hotels are in general in Priceline bidding.

You could likely do slightly-to-moderately better via bidding, but it becomes whether or not the the above listings are of interest. If the above possibilities are of interest because of the hotel itself, amenities or location or some mixture of the three, there is value in that and you may want to consider Hot.wire or PRICELINE EXPRESS instead.

The upside of bidding on PRICELINE is that is usually offers the lowest possible rate... the downside is that you have to be willing to accept any hotels in the zone(s) that you bid at the star rating (or higher) that you select, with no ability to target/avoid a specific property (nor guarantee any specific amenities).

PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE offer the advantage of knowing a little information about the hotel (amenities, user reviews, etc) so you can take a guess as to what it is that you may receive before you make your purchase (or choose a hotel with a specific amenity, such as a Pool or Free Internet, if something like that is important to you)

Hello,

Asking for help on 9/11-9/13, NYC Grand Central Area, 4+ Hotel

I am looking for a decent 4+ hotel to stay from 9/11 - 9/13 this year in NYC near Grand Central Station area.

The location can be flexible inside Manhattan, but better to be closer to Grand Central.

My budget is up to $800 but not limited to it if the deal is pretty good. I would spend $400 per night for an impressive room than $300 for a mediocre room.

I need a free cancellation option even if it is more expensive since the trip is flexible.

The hotel I have in mind is Westin Grand Central, and the traditional room currently seems to be around $693.

I am wondering if there is a way to get some discount when I am looking for a room in the specific hotel like this.

Also, if there is any better options and suggestions for me.

Thanks in advance!

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion.

You can use our sister site RefundableRates.com to find a suitable hotel book and use as a back-up until your plans are final (as this will also protect you from rates rising from here as well as allow you to cancel should your plans fall thru or you're able to get a better deal thru PRICELINE / HOTWIRE)

Let us know once your plans/dates are firm and we will have a look at what is offered within your desired star rating and budget at that time. Hot.wire is trying a cancellation option with a few hotels, but buy and large the 'opaque' services offer a deep discount and therefore are non-refundable, and many of the hotels that may be available now (like the hotels previously researched above above) may not be the ones offered once you're ready to commit to this stay.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
