Priceline Hotel: Help! NYC 6/10-6/14

Hi All!

I am stepping out of my comfort zone and leaving my two sons with my husband for a girls trip to NYC in June! We are all on a very tight budget. We have found airfare rather cheap and attraction discounts but we need to figure out hotel details. I have always used Priceline NYOP for my hotels at Disneyland, Vegas staycations, etc. but I am finding myself out of my own league for NYC.

I need to know if it is best to purchase far in advance (say now) or to wait until closer to our travel dates?

We are looking for the following:

3 1/2 star hotel OR HIGHER for 6/10-6/14. We are hoping to spend $120 per night plus taxes/fees- essentially no more than $150/nt total. (yes I know I shouldn't be holding my breath for this one).

Location isn't TOO important so long as it has access to the Metro line so that we can get to all of the attractions. Would we prefer to be close to Broadway/Park Ave? OF COURSE! Are we going to be anywhere near there? Probably not! I am hoping you guys can help me out!

Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding. :)

First - as it can really make a difference in rates and options - are there more than 2 people in the party?

Unfortunately, $120 does not look likely for these dates, which are in the middle of the busier late Spring/early Summer period. For a 3.5*+ in Midtown you're likely looking at at least around $150-155 + taxes/fees, possibly a few dollars higher.

If you are looking for more than 2 people, then the options will be more expensive.

Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

As your budget is not likely realistic for these dates what is your backup plan if not successful at $120/nite room rate or less?

... and please read your messages (which will also remove the red box at the top of the page asking you to do the same)

There are three of us staying in one room. (One college student, one teacher, and one grandma- this is her girls weekend bucket list trip!)

Our backup plan is to just pay the higher amount or stay outside of the city while still near the metro line so that we can play tourist.

Any suggestions are welcome! Also, I am booking a stay cation here in Vegas and will click your link! :)

Have you looked into the cost of staying outside of the city near a subway, as even that may likely cost you more than $120/nite (at which point you should at least raise your maximum budget for staying directly in manhattan)

You can use the Hotels.com tab (since you're searching for triple occupancy) at our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com to zoom in/out on the map to find hotels that are close to a subway line... what is the best hotel and rate you can come up with at an acceptable hotel?

Any chance the college student is, or looks, 17 years old?

Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.
