Oboy
Hi,Haven't been here in a while! I would like bidding help for up to $185, 3.5 star-5 star in CPS, MTW, MTE or TS-TD. Thank you! Link to comment
thereuare
Before getting started, note that the Hudson Hotel is in the CPS zone and while located, it has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... would this be an acceptable outcome? Also, have you considered MSG, ESB, and/or Chelsea and these are usually desirable zones as well (and may offer some of the better values for your dates) Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Please confirm the zones you're willing to accept and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Oboy
Ok, I am willing to add MSG, ESB and Chelsea. Thanks for the heads up about the Hudson Hotel. That would not be acceptable. Link to comment
thereuare
Sorry, two more questions... 1) are you willing to bid higher for a higher rated hotel OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? In other words, did you first want to try up to your limit for a 4* hotel and if rejected then try for a 3.5 property... OR are looking for the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? 2) most hotels in the MTE zone are well located, but a few can be up to a 10-15 minute walk to the subway... would this be acceptable? Please confirm the above and we'll take it from there. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Oboy
1) Yes, the goal is the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay2) No, MTE is not a good idea. I'd like to minimize my chances of being far from a subway stop (although I do understand that there are not guarantees) Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
So to confirm you're looking for a 3.5* hotel in the MTW, TS, MSG, ESB, or Chelsea zone with a maximum bid of $185/nite. If the above is correct you can begin as follows: When bidding 3.5* in NYC you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. Select 3.5* MTW and TS... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* MSG and ESB... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* Chelsea and MTW... Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* MTW and MSG... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* TS and ESB... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* Chelsea and TS... Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... **NOTE: at this point you need to think about location vs. budget as PRICELINE EXPRESS has this 4 star hotel in the MTE zone for $151/nite (Pets Allowed, Restaurant, Fitness Center... confirm your dates on the landing page). My guess is that this property is The Westin New York Grand Central, so you'll need to make a decision if a guess at this property being the Westin Grand Central at $151/nite is worth taking (given that your previous bids above have been rejected) OR you can continue on with the bidding strategy below. Select 3.5* MTW and ESB... Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone... Bid $160, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* TS and MSG... Bid $165, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 3.5* MTW, TS, ESB... Bid $163, if rejected add re-bid zone... Oboy
Well, the possibility of getting the Westin was more than I could pass up, so I went straight to PRICELINE EXPRESS, pulled the trigger and yup, I got the Westin for $151/night! I have limited ability to walk these days, but a few blocks is doable. Thanks so much for the suggestion. It was worth the risk. ;-) Link to comment

hcm
I'm in the market for the same area on Oct 6-8, and I wouldn't mind taking the Express Deal at $259 if it's the Westin. It says it is a 4* Midtown East hotel with pool, restaurant, fitness center and business center. I don't see a pool on their website, so maybe it's something else. Do you have a tool for figuring out which amenities suggest which hotels are being sold? PS - was I supposed to start a new thread for this question? So I just found your BiddingHelper.com tool - I hadn't scrolled down to the bottom of the hotel list. HOWEVER, I still don't see a 4* hotel in this area with a pool - any idea what it is?Now I see the UN Millenium Hotel with a pool. So I guess that's it. Link to comment
AaronJB
My browser said to refresh the page because it had changed, and now I see the UN Millenium Hotel with a pool. So I guess that's it.Please start a new thread with the details of your stay (dates, budget, star rating and acceptable zones) and we would be happy to look at what's available and offer our thoughts. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
