Areas interested CPS, Chelsea area, Downtown-FD, Empire SBA, Hell's kitchen, MSG, Midtown E and W, Soho- Tri, Times square-theater.  I and a friend of mine are coming for a get together and I have been bidding last few days on Priceline.com.

Our budget is max $140 per day.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Unfortunately these dates are expensive in NYC and i don't think you're budget is in the right ballpark... at current rates it will likely take $200+ (perhaps significantly more) for a 3* or better hotel within Manhattan.

Is staying outside of the city and commuting in an option? (although even this may be more than you think)

Using our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel within the zones you're looking to stay? Do you have a back-up plan? What will you do if you continue to be unsuccessful up to $140 (or more)?

Hi,

Staying outside the city and travelling would be an option if the travel is easy and area is safe to stay. I have noticed travelling by subway or ferry is fast and convenient (budget wise)

I was looking for hotels in Staten island where ferry is very accessible and shouldn't be too much walking from the ferry station, didnt find any hotels nearby.

Can you advice on any other areas?

Thanks,

Mandu

Hi There,

I was discussing with my friend and one more option we could see is stay only 1 night in NYC in a good hotel with $200+. Can you please advice how should I go about bidding for a 3*+ hotel in areas In CPS, Chelsea area, Downtown-FD, Empire SBA, Hell's kitchen, MSG, Midtown E and W, Soho- Tri, Times square-theater

Stay on Sept 18th night in NYC

Thanks,

Mandu

For the solo nite of Sept 18 HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the MSG zone for $172/nite with:

Complimentary Breakfast

Free Internet

Smoke Free

Fitness

Laundry

Hi-Speed Internet

... while i'm not sure which property this one may be, and it may be equivalent to a 2.5* hotel on PRICELINE, this one does have a 100% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests and includes breakfast to help with the budget.

Do you want to take this offer thru HOTWIRE OR try bidding on PRICELINE? If bidding on PRICELINE should we lower your maximum bid to $170/nite (as you would then take this HOTWIRE offer) OR would you keep bidding higher in case this HOTWIRE hotel is equivalent to a 2.5* on PRICELINE?

... will this hotel come under my bid?

Not necessarily... the hotel lists on the board only contain hotels that have been reported to the board, there could always be others which have not yet been reported, recently added to the system, upgraded/downgraded, etc. etc.

See the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List.
