highrise2014
Hello :) I am new to the bidding scene. I would like to stay within walking distance (enjoy up to 30-35 minute walks) of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I was looking in the Midtown East and Queensborough Bridge areas on Priceline. I would like to find a hotel for around 200-225/night. Preferably 4 star. It seems the average prices for a hotel in this area would be around 350/night. Would you be able to help me in the bidding process? Thank you kindly! And I did click on your links :) Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. Price.line does not currently offer any 4* hotels in the Queensboro Bridge zone, so do you want to start by only bidding the MTE zone? If you want to include other zones you could easily also stay in the ESB, Union Square-East Village, and/or LES side zones and take any of the green subway lines towards the north (i'm asusming Hunter College at 68th St stop), which would still give you a 'moderate' walk (10-15 minutes) to the east side to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Let us know which zone(s) you'd like to include in your bidding and we'll take it from there. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. highrise2014
Thank you so much for your reply! I think I'll start with the MTE zone in that case. I would prefer to be within walking distance and not have to take the subway (they make me feel a bit claustrophobic!) Please let me know if you can offer me a bidding strategy. Also - would you know which hotels are possible in the 3.5 star category in that area? Thank you so much! Link to comment

highrise2014
Hello, I have read the message, can you provide some assistance with a bidding strategy? I have used your links :) Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc) Select 4* MTE... Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* MTE and re-bid zone2... Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $205 If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and re-try, once again using this PRICELINE link (and NOT the link in any emails that priceline may send informing you that you're eligible to bid again): Select 4* MTE... Bid $210, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $215, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* MTE and re-bid zone2... Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $225 Any questions feel free to ask. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Good luck and let us know how it goes. highrise2014
Thank you so much! So essentially my re-bid zones will be Queensborough, Upper east side, and lower east side right? (as these don't have 4* hotels...) Link to comment
thereuare
No, that's not correct (and you've listed 3 zones... there are only TWO such re-bid zones). If you've already read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained try the following: 1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter your city and dates, and click "GO". 2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above. 4) post your findings and we'll take it from there If you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further.
