nicarah99
Hi Guys, I have been booking with Hotwire for years but would like some advice on using Priceline please. My parents will be in Hawaii for 2 nights and they would love for to stay on the North Shore (preferably the Turtle Bay resort!!) :) They will be travelling with friends so would require 2 rooms. The dates they will be there are Monday the 19th of January 2015 checking out on the 21st. Could you please take me through the steps of a bidding strategy and advise me on when would be a good time to give this a try. Many thanksNicarah Khong Link to comment
thereuare
So we don't suggest a strategy that goes higher than they are willing to pay, what is their maximum bid for a 4* hotel in the North Shore zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. nicarah99
I think it would be great to get this property for $200 or less.... Would be worth a shot anyway :) Link to comment
thereuare
You can give it a shot, but at current rates i think you'll likely need to be over $200+ for a 4* hotel in this zone... When bidding 4* i the Oahu region you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. (NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc) Select 4* North Shore... Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* North Shore and re-bid zone2... Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $180, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* North Shore and re-bid zoen3... Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE... Select 4* North Shore and re-bid zone2 and re-bid zone3... Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1... Bid $200 Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Good luck and let us know how it goes. nicarah99
I gave it a shot and unfortunately wasn't successful. Do you think they should wait a few months and try again a little closer to the date? Or would the best time be now to get a good deal? Link to comment
AaronJB
This period is definitely going to be busy, but you do have a lot of time. I would try once every week or two for a few months and then if you don't get any bites, possibly consider other options. Would $200 be your absolute max? You can also monitor regular rates (as well as Hot.wire and Price.line Express listings) using our new service, ratedrop.com, as well. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
nicarah99
Hi just wanted to let you know I have kept trying to bid on this resort bidding unto $250 with no luck! So we have ended up booking a refundable room there through hotel club and will keep our eye on hotwire to see if the price drops or not. Link to comment
