Priceline Hotel: 4* Windsor Caesars Windsor

Priceline....a little confused.....

When you go to the list view of hotels, the only 3 1/2* hotel is the Crowne Plaza Convention Centre in Detroit. There is no 3 1/2* option listed in Windsor.

But when you use the Name Your Own Price view, and the area is strictly Windsor (no Detroit) there is a 3 1/2* option. What could this be?

On your hotel listings, you have the Hilton Windsor as a 3 1/2* hotel. You don't have Caesars Windsor in the listing at all, but it is definitely the 4*.

So does Priceline slide in an extra hotel here and there in the Name Your Own Price view that you can't see in the regular list view? Makes it more confusing.....

Any help is appreciated!

The Hotel List here on betterbidding is only the list of hotels members have reported as obtaining through Priceline bidding (and Hotwire opaque purchases but I'll just address PL).

There can always be as yet not reported hotels one can get via bidding (speaking from personal experience).

If you can bid at a star level, there is something out there you could receive.

To add to the confusion, hotels can have star level changes. The Hotel List here is current as of the last reported successful bid.

When there are amenities listed for NYOP, it means all hotels in that zone at that star level have the amenities.

When you say "list view" I am assuming you are referring to the Hotel List here on betterbidding. But if you are referring to the retail side of Priceline, there can be hotels there not available via bidding and vice versa. Further, the zones via bidding and the general area names on the retail side are not necessarily the same. The only consistency is that if a hotel is on both sides, it will bear the same star level.

Thanks Romelle.

I just find it strange that there is only one hotel in Windsor that has a casino in it, and yet on the NYOP listing, BOTH the 4* and 3 1/2* categories show a casino as an amenity. I know that the 4* hotel is Caesars Windsor, so whatever the hotel(s) is that has 3 1/2*'s DOES NOT have a casino attached to it. How can it list a casino as am amenity if it does not have a casino?

The only thing I can think of is maybe that Windsor has a regular area, and a fancier area/wing/tower/??. So it can offer both 3 1/2* and 4* availability. I believe that occurs in Las Vegas in some hotels.

Or it could be an erroneous listing. I actually don't personally know of an example of that, but anything is possible.

The Hilton Windsor is currently 3* rated by PRICELINE and we have updated the Priceline Hotel List accordingly.

Here is a possible scenario for the above...

What if there are no 3.5* hotels offered in the zone, so that any successful bid at the 3.5* level is automatically upgraded to a 4* hotel. If all 4* hotels in the zone offer a casino, then PRICELINE could still show the Casino amenity at the 3.5* level since any successful bid would ultimately result in a 4* property (of which all have casinos, accordingly to the guaranteed amenities shown)

With the above noted, it's NEVER a good idea to assume that PRICELINE does not have hotels at a given star level in a zone and expect to be upgraded to the higher level hotel. If PRICELINE offers bidding at a given star rating you should assume that they do indeed offer hotels at this star rating, but it's possible that this zone may be the exception to the rule and perhaps there are no 3.5* hotels offered here.

Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your win with the board.

Can you please clarify if you won this by bidding on PRICELINE or did you use PRICELINE EXPRESS? What was the bid amount/room rate per nite of your win, and if you used PRICELINE EXPRESS, do you also recall teh amenities that were shown before your purchase?

Also, please include the dates of your stay so that this win can appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps.
