  1. Started at $50 for the Hilton in Alcoa TN. Did not take so added another area and rebid at $52 and accepted. Total with tax $68.24
  2. Started bidding at $51 in the TYS (Airport) zone for a 3* only. Bid was rejected. Added the East zone (up to 2.5*) and stayed on the 3* for the bid. Upped the bid by $1 to $52. Bid accepted by the Hilton Airport, total of $68.04 with tax & fees. Nice hotel, have bid and stayed here several times (a winning 3* bid in this area is almost always the Hilton Airport or Marriott Courtyard). Used the link from BetterBidding to go to PRICELINE. Also, nice updates to this board in both user interface and looks. Very nicely done!
  3. Booked the Residence Inn by Marriott in Brentwood, TN for $61 10/7/11 - 10/8/11. Started at $40 for a 3* in Brentwood - no go. Continued to add areas until I was out of options. Then started bidding by setting up a separate account for the wife. Ended up at $61. $80.26 with fees & taxes. Kind of surprised I had to go that high, as several people had got the Hyatt Place in the low $40's range. And that was where I really wanted to stay. The staff at the RI were very friendly and the room was spacious and clean. I will say that the wife and I both thought the bed was very hard though and the net is hard wired to a desk with no wireless available. I also had the breakfast which was included. They had a good selection including eggs, potato pancakes, sausage, waffles, cereals, fruits, bread, muffins, etc...
  4. Booked the Courtyard by Marriott 10/9/11 - 10/10/11 for $46, $62.15 with fees/tax. Started at $40 for a 3* in Brentwood - no go. Went to $42 and added Antioch - no go Went to $44 and added North - no go Finally landed on $46 by adding South to the list. Used the PRICELINE link from BetterBidding.com
  5. Linked to PRICELINE from BB.com. First bid of $47 for Alcoa TN (Knoxville airport) was accepted by the Hilton. Have stayed here before, nice place. $62.12 with tax.
  6. Only took one bid. Started bid at $50 and the Hilton accepted. Total with tax was $65.48 The average rate in the area for a 3* was $110 so got in at a bit less than 50%. Have stayed there before - nice place for the money. Used the PRICELINE link at the top of the page to get to PL.
  7. Started bidding yesterday at $43 for a 3* in Germantown - rejected. Added 2 1/2 * properties and raised bid to $44 - rejected Added one other area that only had 2* properties and raised bid to $45 - rejected Same and raised bid to $46 - rejected Same and raised bid to $47 - rejected and out of bids for the day Today (5/16/11) started the bidding over again with just a 3* in Germantown (looks like only Hyatt Place, which I was hoping for, Residence Inn and Courtyard are 3* in Germantown) Bid accepted for $48 at Courtyard by Marriott - $64.53 with tax/fees. Gets mixed reviews but usually you can count on a Marriott property to be in good repair and clean. We'll see. Linked to PL through this board.
  8. 1st bid of $50 was not accepted, average price of room shown to be $114. Bid again at $54 by adding a zone and was accepted. Total of $70.58 with fees/taxes 2/26/11 - 2/27/11 Used the PRICELINE link on this site.
  9. Actually wanted the airport area and can usually get the Courtyard or Hilton for $50/night. Started a bid at $45 for TYS zone only - rejected Added the East zone and went to $48 on the bid (East only goes to 2.5 stars) - rejected Added the North zone and bid $51 (again North only goes to 2.5 stars) - rejected Down to my last attempt (and needing something tonight for two nights I Added the West zone which does have 3 stars and upped the bid to $52. Won the bid from the Holiday Inn Cedar Bluff for $52/night and $129.64 with tax/fees total. First time in many many attempts that the airport (TYS) did not work. Actually the Cedar Bluff location is just as good with what we are planning to do but like the TYS properties a bit better than the Holiday Inn. Bid using the link from here to PRICELINE.
  10. My stay was for Christmas night, 12/25/10 - 12/26/10, one night
  11. Bid $33 for a 3 star using the PRICELINE link here. Won on the first try, thanks to seeing what the recent rates had been. Room $33.00 Tax/Fees $11.96 Travel Insurance $5.00 (not sure if this is necessary or if it is a hidden add on fee. Would not have taken it had I been aware when I booked). TOTAL $49.96 Considered this a good but not great deal. After adjusting out the fees/trip insurance and comparing with what was available on the HG web site, the difference was not tremendous. Still, thanks for the great site.
  12. Just booked the Pittsburgh Airport Marriott for one night 12/10/10 for $50 using the information I got from this board. Total was $64.58 with tax. New to the board but will not be a stranger for long!
