  1. Hello all... I have never used Priceline Express before, so need a little guidance. I am looking at 10-15 to 10-18 just about anywhere in Manhattan, and this came up... 4 stars in the Downtown - Financial District Area for $120 a night. Seems like a good deal. The only amenities it lists are fitness center and business center. Looking at the Priceline Express wins, could I probably assume that this is the Doubletree? Also, do you guys think it would be a bad idea to stay in the Financial District over the weekend (perhaps everything nearby would be closed and that's why the price is so low for a 4 star hotel?). Thanks... Maynard
  2. Used link on this site to start the Priceline process. (Looked at the Priceline Express Deals) Any ideas on what this hotel may be? I looked at the pinned Priceline page for Palm Springs, and the only 2 star is the Extended Stay America near the airport. But... they don't claim to have a fitness center, so I guess that's not the place. $42 a night for 3-24 to 3-26-2015, A great deal if it's a decent place... maybe I could knock off $5 by using Name Your Own Price? Pool Internet Fitness Center Free breakfast Free parking Thanks for any guesses...
  3. I tried changing rooms, but the front desk claimed they were fully booked and couldn't change me. I spent half an hour with Priceline and they called the front desk twice, who gave them the same story. I probably got the worst room in the hotel (probably reserved for Priceline customers). I will try to get a refund next time, but I doubt they'll go along with that. It's all part of the business model. I forgot to add that the electric outlet didn't work in the bathroom, so I had to use my electric shaver at the desk. A definite one star hotel.
  4. The first bid I did was for three nights, and later, I realized I needed one more night. I bid again in this area before I actually checked into the Carson hotel. There is no way I would have bid for this place again if I had already known what it was like. When I did the bid, I assumed I would receive the same Carson location, but was surprised that I got the place in Torrance. At that time, I was aggravated that I would have to change hotels for just that one night, but I was so happy to leave Carson that I ended up being happy about the difference. At any rate, the ESA Torrance Del Amo Circle was SO much nicer... it was definitely a nice 2-star place, not what I consider a 1-star place (like the ESA Carson I was at before). I have written scathing reviews on Trip Advisor, and responded to the e-mail survey I received from Priceline and ESA about the Carson property. I won't bid a 2-star again in this area for fear of getting the Carson property again.
  5. Priceline Express showed what I assumed to be the Extended Stay America - Los Angeles - Carson at $49, so I took $5 off and won on the first bid. I was surprised when I actually got assigned the Extended Stay America Los Angeles - Torrance - Del Amo Circle. Thank goodness I didn't get the Extended Stay Carson again! Used the Priceline link on this site.
  6. This is the worst Priceline hotel I've ever gotten. I don't recommend that people bid for a 2-star in this zone, for fear that they might end up here. So many things wrong: no turntable in the microwave oven, tub drains so slowly that there's 4" of standing water by the time your shower is done, dried food on the desk chair, hole in the window screen, noisy from the freeway on one side of the hotel & the major street on the other, they claimed only smoking rooms were available even though they told a walk-in customer otherwise. This is just like a Motel 6 but with a kitchenette... no way this is a two star hotel. Not even worth the $47 I bid... I can't wait to leave!
  7. Used the PRICELINE link on this site. Started bidding at $35, changed zones, changed dates... everything. When I had bid $41 on a different bid, they said if I raised my bid to $47, I could bid again for free. I didn't bid $47 (but I guess I should have). I changed dates again, and finally bid $47 and got the room. Apparently only saved $3 off the PRICELINE EXPRESS deal, but every little bit helps. Extended Stay America - Los Angeles - Carson 401 E Albertoni St., Carson, CA
  8. That sounds like a great deal.... only $39 a night at a hotel that goes for over $100 a night on their web site. Even free parking! Hope you liked the hotel... leave a review!
  9. OK, I updated the Atlanta trip from last year. I will be sure to use the links for searching as well. No need to research this one... I am going to try to find a place that doesn't charge a resort fee. What looks like a good deal ends up not being one, because of the resort fees these places are charging. I wonder what they're going to charge us for next.... wear & tear fee on the door hinges for opening the door to the room?
  10. I ended up not making this trip. One of my friends was in Atlanta on business & I was trying to figure out a cheap way to hang out with him while he was there. The trip ended up being too expensive overall so I didn't go.
  11. Please help ID this hotel. I looked on the Hotwire list for Vegas Northwest, and only a 2* hotel came up. 3* Las Vegas Northwest Area $20 per night! 70% recommended Amenities: Free Parking, Casino, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center The dates I checked were July 23-25. Thanks for any input, and I *promise* to use your links when I book! Everybody have a great weekend!
  12. OK, I may try PRICELINE to get something cheaper, but will report back if I go ahead & get this one on HOTWIRE. Thanks very much for your input.
  13. Hi, I clicked both of the links. I re-checked the details of the hotel. Now it's up to $55 a night, and here is the complete list of amenities (I could swear there were only 4 amenities yesterday....) Free Parking <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Complimentary Breakfast <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Free Internet <amenity names only please... not descriptions> Laundry Facilities (self-service) <amenity names only please... not descriptions> High-Speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply. 14. Please help identify this hotel... sounds like a great deal.... $53 per night 2.5 stars Buckhead area hotel Recommended in 85% of Hotwire reviews Free parking Complimentary breakfast Free internet Self-service laundry June 9-14, 2012 I looked thru the list & didn't see something that matched this one. Thanks!
  15. I don't know how people have been getting these $20 and below rates through Priceline at Orlando airport. I have been trying for 10 days now... started bidding at $12 and have worked my way up to $26. Anyway, at this point it's just cheaper to book directly at EZ Rental Cars (even though I don't like them much). Better luck next time!
