  1. Won it on the first bid but I used the "SUMMER" coupon code for 5% ($11 off) so maybe it all evens out. Subtotal: 228 Taxes: 28.02 Fees: 13.26 Coupon -11.40 Total: 257.88
  2. Just to add to this topic: - There is an unposted 3 hour parking limit on streets in the City of Toronto (and many other Ontario cities too). - Parking is not allowed at TTC subway lots between 2am and 5am daily. Plus they now charge for parking after 3pm on weekdays when they didn't before. - Parking is allowed free for up to 72 hours at GO Transit commuter train parking lots. - Parkopedia is a good site, as is BestParking. http://toronto.bestparking.com/
  3. For this one I bid up $1 at a time from $60. A few times it said I could bid immediately at $91. It seems that the really cheap rooms are in the days before New Year's Eve plus those before Christmas. Still much cheaper than in summer. Here are my highest bids in other zones: $75 3* in Cambridge East (bid immediately at $90, probably for the Marriott Cambridge) $72 3* in Convention Center $77 3.5* in Financial District $77 3* in other downtown zones (Copely, Theater District) I'm happy with this one (and used the PRICELINE link here).
  4. To expand on this thought, I think PRICELINE overbooking is rare because if a hotelier is aware of high demand dates then they simply won't put any rooms in the PRICELINE buckets (or will do so at a high rate).
  5. I was seeing some really good prices during the weekends in January and February (checking in on a Thursday and checking out on a Monday). I wanted to check in on a Wednesday instead so I'm glad this worked out! I used the PRICELINE link here, as always. Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $5.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $56.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $224.00 Taxes & Fees: $42.84 Total Charged to Card: $266.84 Bidding History: White House-Downtown 4*: 55-67 3.5*: 55-67 3*: 60, 64 and 66 Convention Center-Capitol Hill 4*: 55-67 3.5*: 55-67 3*: 60 and 63 Dupont Circle 4*: 60-65 3.5*: 60-67 3*: 60 and 63 Foggy Bottom-Georgetown 4*: 60-65 3.5*: 60 (try again at 75), won at 61.
  6. I think it was trying to put me in the 4* Renaissance (the Marriott Key was too expensive for this bid) so I thought I'd take my chances at 3.5* to see if the Doubletree came up. The Hyatt atrium looks neat though. Used the PRICELINE link here. Rock on! Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $46.00 Rooms: 1 Nights: 1 Room Subtotal: $46.00 Taxes & Fees: $15.04 Total Charged to Card: $61.04 Bidding History for Cleveland - Downtown: 4* 40 Try again at $53 41 Try again at $53 3.5* 40 Try again at $53 41 Rejected; no message 42 Try again at $53 43 Rejected; no message 44 Try again at $53 45 Rejected; no message 46 Accepted
  7. Good info! I'm liking the free internet so that will make up for it. I've stayed in a Four Points in Queens, NY before and liked the room so there should be no worries. I think Trader Joe's will get a visit as we don't have them here. Looking forward to this winter's Four Points craft beer too. Thanks for running the board (both you and thereyouare). It's helped me immensely over the years! I like the new layout and programming stuff too (e.g. the template for this post, you don't have to calculate two weeks on the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, etc.)
  8. Very pleased on the price. Wasn't sure whether to target a 4* or go with 3* and save a bit of cash but I like the 3* hotels in this zone so I decided to save the cash. Used the PRICELINE link on this site, as usual. I know it will be chilly but it's chilly here too! For two people this is actually half the cost of staying in a youth hostel! Bonus Cash: Per Room, Per Night $9.00 Offer Price: avg. per room, per night $37.00 (so a $46 offer) Rooms: 1 Nights: 4 Room Subtotal: $148.00 Taxes & Fees: $37.16 Total Charged to Card: $185.16 Here's my bidding history: For Chicago - Millennium Park - Loop: 4* 44 46 47 48 49 50 51 Try again at $61 52 Try again at $61 53 Try again at $61 For Chicago - North Michigan Ave - River North 4* 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 - said I had a "small chance" (This wasn't displayed yesterday but I went to bed and that message came up.) 49 50 51 Try again at $62 52 Try again at $62 53 Try again at $62 3.5* 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 Try again at $59 49 Try again at $59 3* 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 Accepted
  9. Hi, I'm just adding my two cents: Personally I'm open to all zones in Manhattan (in the sense that they're convenient enough for me). The Wall Street Inn often has good weekend rates. To me, Jersey City is also appealing option. All the hotels in that zone are newish corporate hotels so I'd be comfortable even bidding for the 2* Candlewood Suites. Transport is good on the subway-like PATH train. From Herald Square to Newport Station is max 10-20 minute wait + 20 minute ride + 5 minute walk (10 for Candlewood). The Hyatt to WTC is max 20 minute wait + 4 minute ride. (Less waiting time during the day.) Also good for the airport. I'm personally tempted to lowball a bid there and see what happens. (I once won Hyatt JC for $89.) Stay away from the other areas in Jersey unless your desperate (or you want to be near the airport). The public transit and neighbourhoods are generally awful. I stayed at the recently-constructed Four Points in Long Island City and liked it. One stop to Manhattan so I could be anywhere I wanted in about 20 minutes (longer after 1am). http://deals.fourpoints.com/Four-Points-Lo...tel-3540/so.htm Of course it is better to stay in Manhattan and it is worth a certain premium. The question for you is, "how much?" Sure, I'd pay $20 extra to stay in Manhattan vs. Jersey or LIC but if I won a JC hotel for $75 vs. $175 or $275 in Manhattan... Good luck!
  10. Won on the first bid at $10. Used the PRICELINE link from this site. Your Offer Price: $10.00 (per day) Total Rental Days: 6 days(5 days and 9 hours) Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes and Fees: $29.94 Total Charges: $89.94 Lowest Published Price: $164.89 Total Savings:* $74.95 (You saved 45%) I tried a few days ago and it was quoting a total price of $100 with a $10 bid (which was the same as Hotwire). I would have liked to have tried $8 and $9 but didn't have time.
  11. If you're willing to stay in a small room with no view, and a bit west of Waikiki, the Ala Moana Hotel has a $40 promotion going on: http://www.alamoanahotel.com/40
