  1. Folks, Just received an unreported hotel in the Houston Hobby Airport zone when bidding for a 3*. I bid $40 and was immediately accepted at the Four Points by Sheraton Houston Hobby Airport, which seems to be a fairly new property in that area, given there are no reviews on Tripadvisor yet... The website looks nice though. Accessed PL thru BetterBidding link of course, as always. Dennis
  2. THX, I've already stayed there and hated that fact too. I parked at the Galleria garage across the street and less than 3 minutes walking distance from the hotel.
  3. Got the Le Meridien Dallas North/Galleria on the first attempt. Bid was $45. Great hotel, and certainly a great price. Looking forward to my stay ! Used BetterBidding link to access PRICELINE of course :) Dennis
  4. Just in case anyone was curious about the answer to my question: they compute the resort fee based on Priceline's rate. I paid $10.50, which is exactly 14% of my winning bid. This suggests that Priceline paid $75 for the room as well.
  5. I'm going on a mileage run to Puerto Rico and need to stay there for a night. Started bidding on Price.ine on Resort level at $60 and worked my way up in $5 increments. $75 was accepted by El San Juan, Waldorf Astoria Collection. I'm reading mixed reviews about this hotel, so anyone who can say something good about it will be appreciated :) BTW, how does the hotel calculate the resort fee on a PRICELINE bid ? The hotel web page says the resort fee is 14% on the hotel rate... do they use my (low) Priceline rate or the rack rate ? Thanks, Dennis PS: used forum link to access PRICELINE, of course :)
  6. First bid at $45 a winner, kinda hate that :) Best rate on the internet was $109, so I saved some 60% on this one. Looking forward to my combined pleasure / business stay there. Accessed PRICELINE through forum link, as always.
  7. Started at $38 and used rebid zones for increasing in $1 increments. $43 worked out. Seems to be a pretty nice hotel, and $43 is not bad at all given it's a Monday thru Thursday stay. Grand total for 3 nights incl. tax is $159 as opposed to $179 rack rate per night plus tax :) Accessed PRICELINE thru forum link of course.
  8. Hey folks, Just bid $70 on a 4* in the Atlanta Buckhead area and got the Grand Hyatt. Last night I tried up to $80 but had no success, must have been inventory changes or something. I am all excited about this hotel, so I extended my stay for another night, since I have business appointments there. I did not get the initial rate, but the counteroffer of $102 looked reasonable so I thought I should go for it. Initial dates are Friday 3/12 - Sunday 3/14 and the additional night Sunday 3/14 - Monday 3/15. Accessed PRICELINE thru BetterBidding link of course, as always. Cheers, Dennis
  9. Just won the MGM Grand on Hotwire. It's in the South Strip zone with the following amenities: Casino Restaurant Fitness Business Pool High-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Spa I got it for $59, but had to use a little "trick". With the standard search options (2 Adults), another 4* hotel would show up in the South Strip zone, at $53 per night and without the tennis icon - which I believed to be the NYNY. So I changed to 3 Adults, and this property showed up. Grand total for both nights $140.09. I don't know anything about the NYNY - it got pretty good reviews, but I don't like the fact that they charge a resort fee. Went thru BetterBidding HOTWIRE link of course. So long, Dennis
  10. Hi folks, Just wanted to let you know about the deal my brother got on PRICELINE. This was a bid for 4 rooms in the Downtown Las Vegas Area, for a one-week stay in March. He bid on 4* properties in the Fremont St Vicinity area and was hoping to get the Golden Nugget. It worked out. He started bidding at $42, and increased to $45, $48 and $50, which was accepted by the Golden Nugget. Official rack rate is $69 per night, so he saved some big bucks on this one. BTW, he doesn't know this board but next time, he will definitely use the PRICELINE link. He had to promise :) Dennis
  11. Sorry, this was on 11/19, not 11/16 - can someone please change the date in the topic ? Thanks.
  12. This is for a past stay as well. Had hoped to get the Courtyard again, but the Crowne Plaza came up. Not a bad hotel either, but the location of the Courtyard can not be matched :) Started at $42 and worked up until $44, which was accepted. Accessed PRICELINE through BetterBidding link of course. Dennis
  13. This is for a past stay, I had some friends in town who wanted to stay close to my place. First bid of $30 was accepted immediately at the ExtendedStay America Westminster. It's the location on 120th Ave, off of I-25. Some restaurants were within walking distance, but otherwise the hotel was not impressive. Had hoped for Marriott TownePlace Suites which is just across the street. Grand total for 1 night and 2 rooms was $75. Accessed Priceline through BetterBidding PRICELINE link of course. Dennis
  14. This is for a past stay, I didn't find the time to post it earlier. It was a last minute bid, my first bid of $49 was accepted immediately. Not a bad price for this hotel, at all. Grand total for the 2 night stay was $122. Accessed Priceline through the PRICELINE forum link, of course. Cheers, Dennis
