The Si
I need 3 rooms for 4 nights during Memorial Day Weekend (5/27 Link to comment
JamieDDS
Its funny you posted this, I was just about to post something similar.I have been trying, for 2 weeks to get a North-Strip May 2-4 PRICELINE deal for 2 rooms. I have been bidding only a 4 star rooms. I did not want the 5 star Trump, because to my knowledge there is a casino at this hotel!!! Who would want to go to Vegas and not have a casino in their room??? Not me!!!I have seen many people are getting $41-47/night at Treasure Island. So, I started bidding at $40 and bid all the way up to $50. With PRICELINE's fees, that is a total bid of around $230 (2 rooms -- 2 nights). All bids were rejected. And, if you add the Treasure Island charged $20/per night/per room fee I was looking to spend approx $310 total for the 2 rooms. And I am sure I'd get a low floor with no view. I don't think this is a super good deal for a so-so hotel. What I did instead is I booked Monte Carlo (AAA: 4 stars) on Orbitz for a total of $370 including taxes ...and this is an upgraded room with a Strip View. Orbitz has a 5% coupon if you use "Review5" as a promotional code. They do have a $13 per night/per room resort fee.I would have used PRICELINE to try to get a Monte Carlo, but didn't want to take the chance of getting a lesser property!!!So, in this case I choose not to do PRICELINE.....Treasure Island was just too greedy. The Si
UPDATE: I bid $90 for 2 rooms and was declined. They gave me an offer for $116. I still have not accepted yet. I'm thinking about bidding around $100. I guess I'll have to wait a few days, though, because I didn't get a free rebid.@JamieDDS: I don't want Trump, either. That's why I only selected 4*. I was looking at Monte Carlo. That will probably be my fallback if I don't get the price I want through Priceline. Thanks for the reply. My two main factors in choosing a hotel in Vegas this time is location and pool. Basically, somewhere with a nice pool on the strip between Desert Inn Rd (Wynn/Encore) and Tropicana Ave (MGM/NYNY). Anything more north or south is just too far of a walk for me (yes, I'm lazy). I stayed at Bally's during my last visit, being more price-conscious. The location was great, but the pool and amenities weren't spectacular to say the least. So I'm at least looking for a step up from Bally's. So, like I said, the Monte Carlo would suffice as a fallback. Pretty nice pool, decent location. Link to comment

thereuare
I don't want Trump, either. That's why I only selected 4*.Selecting 4* isn't going to help you avoid the Trump as the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept... your 4* bid could always be upgraded to a 5* property. If you go with the Orbitz offer above at the Monte Carlo please note that we're an affiliate of Orbitz so please use the links on the board or in the support page, and you can try coupon code HOTELAWARD10 for 10% off the listed rate.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. JamieDDS
UPDATE: I was able to try $100. Got declined and given a minimum free rebid of $122.Si -- Dang! That is getting expensive for Treasure Island. I think I'd give up on that. I noticed an important thing for you in the pool. Monte Carlo pool is currently being completely renovated and will be closed through March. So, that might be a property to check out -- will have a nice new pool setup. I wanted a nice pool also. Check out their website, they have a lazy river and several different pools.And....I tried that 10% coupon that the other person mentioned, it didn't work. But the 5% did work. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try the 10%. GOOD LUCK.And, by the way, I used the Orbitz link from this website. thanks. Link to comment

The Si
Just wanted to close the thread and say after several tries with PRICELINE, I came upon a deal directly from the MGM Grand, and due to pressure from friends to finalize the booking, I took it. Came out to about $493 for the 4 nights. Not the greatest deal, but it's done.Thank you everyone for your replies and assistance. Link to comment
