As I mentioned in my "priceline tips" post, the hotel was only willing to give me a king smoking room for my priceline stay, and wanted to charge me a $20 upgrade for any other type of room (like non-smoking and/or 2 beds). Obviously, that makes this very much a "buyer beware" property.

If you can live with a king smoking room, the $31 price I paid is reasonable. The hotel is in somewhat of an odd location, and probably not terribly convenient to most LA-area tourists (I was visiting nearby family). It's a small property in a "marginal" neighborhood, but I didn't perceive any security risk. The rooms were fairly clean and tasteful -- certainly meritorious of 2 stars. The free morning continental buffet was skimpy, but you could get cold cereal, toast or a cheap danish.

I did like the fact that there was free parking right outside my motel room -- as opposed to the Woodland Hills Hilton where I had to walk 2 long blocks or pay a $10/night parking fee. So if you're one person or a couple planning a brief stay in the San Fernando Valley, you have to factor in this cost vs. convenience. I only stayed here the night I couldn't get a 3* (like the Hilton) in the low $40s, and that's probably where I would put the relative value line.
