Tash79 Posted September 12, 2009 Report Share Posted September 12, 2009 Hiya,I'm hoping someone can help me with a bidding strategy?We are driving to Seattle from Vancouver and looking for somewhere to stay from next Wednesday 16th Sept to Saturday 19th Sept.We aren't too fussed where we stay, as long as it's safe & easy to get too (pref downtown but would be happy to stay slightly out)...we also have a car so cheap/free parking would be good.Plan to start Bidding for 3 star > $35If I'm not sucessful with that bid what should I do from there? What is your maximum bid? Seattle Centre - Space Needle3. Lake Union4. I guess University - Northgate, although that looks quite far out?Any of these areas would be fine.Max bid would be $70 as I can get a room for 69.95 direct at the Spaceneedle Travel Lodge (+ $10 for parking) which would be ok too (but not as fun as bidding of course)It's only a 1 star so hopefully I can get something a bit better than that if I play my cards right. Tash79 Posted September 15, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2009 So we ended up winning Extended Stay America - Northgate for $75 using the PRICELINE link.Seattle is looking to be very very busy for these dates!!I have been bidding the past few days with no luck so went directly to the hotel websites I thought I might win and found that they were all sold out!Literally 6 Pike Place/Space Needle hotels were sold out.So I knew we wouldn't be getting a fabulous deal like we have in the past with Priceline but still a better deal than not using it at all.3 starsBid $35 - Pike Place - Rejected$40 > added Spaceneedle Downtown - Rejected$50 > added Lake Union - Rejected$55 Added 2.5 stars - Rejected$60 > Added University - RejectedGave up for the dayNext day - 3 Stars same as above but went up to $75 then eventually lowered to 2 stars (as we are leaving for Seattle tomorrow) and won Extended Stay - Northgate near University.Not happy, not sad just glad we have a rental car!
