RedmondFrank
argh... for NYC they're just having star rating without the "based on nnn reviews last review MMM yy. " :) is this just something that happens from time to time? or a new policy?the review count was extremely helpful in property ID. Link to comment
Colfax
I haven't seen any review counts on Hotwire for a couple of days now either. It makes ID'ing hotels much more difficult, especially in large cities where there can be dozens of hotels with the same rating. Hopefully the review counts will return soon. Link to comment
lccali
I've been checking Hotwire prices for the last two weeks and after TripAdvisor did system maintenance on 8/27/09, I haven't been able to see the number of reviews from TripAdvisor. Is it just me? Link to comment
BEAV
I'm seeing TripAdvisor information appear in a number of Hotwire displays today. However I'm seeing only the Tripadvisor rating, but not the number of reviews as we've seen in the past. Link to comment
Colfax
However I'm seeing only the Tripadvisor rating, but not the number of reviews as we've seen in the past. It's been like that for a few days now. Hotwire only displays the hotel's TripAdvisor rating but not the number of reviews...at least not with any of the searches I've done.Has anyone done a HOTWIRE search today that displayed the number of TripAdvisor reviews? islandgirl58
Still trying to research a 4* hotel in Ka'anapali but I no longer see the TripAdvisor rating. Are they no longer posting this information? Without it, it's really hard to pin down what hotel you are getting! Am I just missing it? Link to comment
yellowdog
The rating comes and goes. But the amount of reviews has been gone since last Friday.Yellowdog. Link to comment
sfntvintx
I just called HOTWIRE and asked about the missing number of TripAdvisor reviews. They said their system was updated and they were unable to show the number of reviews. Ugh. This will make ID-ing hotels more difficult (which maybe was their point?) Link to comment
BEAV
HOTWIRE is once again including the number of TripAdvisor reviews in their hotel-only product. In addition to that, they are also including a link to reviews from past Hotwire guests of the property. You have to surf through a lot of reviews (some people only leave ratings, while others include comments), however there are tidbits of info that can help to identify hotels. This reminds me of the days where Hotwire used to have "customer favorite" properties and included morsles of information which could often help to idenfity a hotel. Link to comment
sheshbesh4u
When does this start? (the return of the number of reviews on TA)I just searched for a Florida Hotel in the Wintertime. All it says is 4 out of 5 circles on Tripadvisor. Doesn't tell me how many reviews. There are no reviews either.I am so irritated with Hotwire about this! Don't they realize that their bookings will go vastly down! How can you know what the hotel is?!It's a lose-lose-lose for the hotels that can't sell rooms, us the consumers and Hotwire! :) Link to comment
slruud
Is it just me, but Hotwire seems to be defaulting to Expedia for packages, and not displaying the amenities associated with the hotel. I'm trying a hotel/car combo and it would usually ask which airport to pick up a car, in this case the Bay area, but not now. Is this likely a temporary glitch or how it will be from now on? BEAV
Yeah, it's a mess now that you can't use the Vacation package to help identify hotels. Here's a link to the discussion. Hotwire Vacation Packages Link to comment
