ibid
Hello,I am very new to hotel rooms bidding and had my first bid over the weekend, but without any success. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advise for future reference.First bid two days ago:Montreal Aug 1st and 2nd, 3.5*#1 Montreal - $70, rejected#2 Montreal + Dorval - $75, rejected#3 Montreal + Dorval + Longuel - $80, rejectedI eventually added all areas, as 3.5* is only available in Montreal - all rejectedYesterday, tried the same thing again, and last bid was $105 - all rejected as well. I though I was just bidding too low. Then last night, I read another member's winning bid for the exact same date, category, and area for only $71 at the third bid. Here is his post: Montreal Hyatt RegencyUnlike him, I was not offered to bid at a certain price. Note about my yesterday's bid, I did not realized I started a new bid, I thought I was continuing the one from Sunday.Anyway, I was wondering what I did wrong for future reference.I used the PRICELINE link. Thanks!Roy Link to comment
thereuare
I'm sure you're not doing anything "wrong"... hotel pricing is dynamic and changes all the time.First, we don't know when the other user won their bid... although the win was posted yesterday, unfortunately not everyone posts as soon as they win, so that post may have been a few days/weeks ago and rates have risen since then. Even if this bid was made yesterday, the hotel may have only offered one room at that price (which has now been sold to the other user) OR this morning the hotel could have received a reservation for a large block of rooms, changing the supply/demand dynamics and the hotel could suddenly be in a position of high occupancy instead of low occupancy. Any of these are possible (some more likely than others) but all provide an example of how pricing, and availability, can change at a moments notice. What is the best available rate your'e able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional methods? What is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (NOTE: please start all your bidding sessions from the links on the board and not thru any emails from PRICELINE)THANKS!! brianr
I just got the Hyatt yesterday for $71 per night from 7/31-8/03 on PRICELINE. HOTWIRE must be able to do better than $105. Link to comment
thereuare
brianr,Can you please add your win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that your win can appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. Also, as your dates are the same as the OP's, and they have bid up to $105 yesterday abut were turned down, obviously the rate which you booked at is no longer avaialble... either the Hyatt has sold all the inventory they loaded that price (more may come later) or occupancy levels have hit a certain point and they're no longer offering such a deep discount to the opaque suppliers. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. I have given up at $105 on Monday and we have booked at a smaller hotel in the city since.Thank you for the input, I am enlightened. Will try again in the future. I did use the PRICELINE link, and will do so again when I have the chance.Roy Link to comment
