The 4* has not yet been identified, although i'd suggest that seems like the best value of the group and unless there is a particular hotel or area you're trying to avoid, that's the one i'd go with. All the Atlantic City hotels with casinos are either on the boardwalk or at the marina, so if you're basically just looking for a "Atlantic City" experience, then that's probably you're best bet. The 3.5* is believed to be the Trump Marina, but not yet reported to the boaard with this star rating (it's believed to have been upgraded to a 3.5* from 3*)

Are the 2.5* and 2* really an option?? What would prompt you to stay in this 'out of the way' area, at a lower star rating, and same price??

Well the hotels outside are an option. I really just want to spend time on the Jersey Shore and maybe one day in Atlantic City. Places like Cape May & Ocean City are too expensive to stay, hence why I'm looking in Atlantic City & West Atlantic City, which are cheaper. All the hotels in Atlantic City have costly parking, so if you're going to be in and out of the hotels all day every day for a few days, those fees add up. But I'm still undecided, hence why I posted here. I wanted to know if the 2* would be the Quality Inn, which I looked at and it got pretty decent reviews for a non-Casino hotel.

I don't know if this is the Quality Inn or not, but i assume this is the Quality Inn you're refering to? The reviews are not really that good, imo, and not worth staying in this area unless you're seeing significant savings and Atlantic City casinos are prohibitively expensive, which doesn't appear to be the case in this instance given the sub-$100 rates you're seeing above for 4* and 3.5* properties.

Are you familiar with this area?

Well actually, this is the one I was looking at Quality Inn. Only 3 reviews, but pretty decent. As I said before I don't know if I really want to stay in the actual due to the fact it costs to park there and of the 4 days I'll be there, I don't think I'll be spending more than 2(if that) days in the actual city ... I'd like to visit Ocean City, maybe Cape May, and possibly some of the other surrounding towns. So if I'm in Atlantic City and constantly leaving and coming back I'll have to pay parking everytime. Of course if I'm going to stay in a roach motel ... the money won't be unbearable.

And no, I'm not familiar with the area. I'm only familiar with what I can see on google maps

The Quality Inn you linked to above is not in the West Atlantic City - Blackhorse Pike zone :)

How much do you expect parking to cost... it's been awhile since i've been to Atlantic City but in reasearching your stay above i found a few comments stating that Trump Marina or the Showboat is $5 per 24 hours which doesn't seem too bad (not sure if includes in/out privleges... although i'm not sure why you think you'll be constantly leaving and coming back). As well, not sure if it's still the case, but casinos also used to have a validation machine if you gambled for any amount of period which would entitle you to free parking for a given amount of time (or free parking if you sign up for their 'players card', which is free to join)

As i mentioned above, you really don't want to stay out by Blackhorse Pike for the price difference you're seeing above.

Well I'll be damned, it's on the Whitehorse, not Blackhorse and is about 15 minutes from Atlantic City, as opposed to where I thought it was at 10 minutes. Meh, 5 minutes.

I won't be gambling, so frequenting the casinos for that won't be an issue. I'll be going on the boardwalk and beaches and finding other things to do. I'm not sure how much I'd be spending on parking but if it really is $5 for a 24-hr period, that won't be too bad. I guess I can call a casino and find out that information. You're probably right on that I wouldn't be traveling in and out of the parking lot that much on any given day, I just don't like the aspect of spending $15-20 bucks if I do happen to go in and out 3-4 times on a particular day(for whatever reason).

did you proceed with this purchase? Can you identify the hotel? I haven't been to Atlantic City in a year or so, but I believe all of the casinos charge for parking now. The Showboat would waive this fee if you showed a slot club card, some of the casinos will give you reduced or free parking if you were "platinum" status. Many of the beaches will require beach tags, with the exception of Atlantic City or Wildwood. At the southernmost tip of Ocean City is a state park and beach tags are not required.

Good Luck!

It was Harrah's? I found Harrah's for $95 on Hotels.com. Not sure if $6 is a big savings or not.

I did not make the purchase, my partner was very uncomfortable with booking a hotel in which the name was identified and staying in Atlantic City was probably more of a turn-off than anything else as we didn't wish to spend more than a day there. Even with my attempt to convince, it was all for naught. Oh well, we got a good deal for a hotel on the white horse for a very good rate (I'm a member of AAA).

I do enjoy this site though and will definitely use it again in the future.
