Priceline Hotel: 5* Vienna (City Centre) Bristol

For Oct. 13-22, Vienna central, my rejected bids were $105,110 and 115, all in US dollars. These bids are in line with other's successes.

Checking out PRICELINE's regular site, they don't seem to offer the Marriott at that time. Is it possible that it is sold out? I thought hotels were suffering this year.

Their prices for the 5* are Intercontinental $378 and Bristol $373.

Hotels don't suffer during tradeshows/exhibitions/special major events/fairs. There is a fair in Vienna during your intended stay:

GEWINN - MESSE 10/15/2009 until 10/17/2009 International Congress Fair for Capital Investment

That may also explain the fairly high rates for the Intercontinental and the Bristol.

The website www.hrs.de is very good for backup hotels. I would also consider dividing your stay.

I happened to try Vienna at Hotwire, and voila! It's there!

A 5* for $129 plus tax. Don't know where in Vienna.

Has restaurant, business center and laundy facilities.

Any clue?

Oct. 16-22. Any ideas what hotel it could be?

I used your PRICELINE link and bid $122 for a 5* in Vienna, Oct. 16-22 and got the Bristol. I hope I didn't bid too much! It's a lot less than the small hotel I had booked. On the Sheraton website, I think they are asking 217 euros. Big difference. As I mentioned, HOTWIRE now has Vienna, 5* $129. Maybe it's the same hotel.

As you see in my Hotwire Hotel posting, it is Le Meridien.

There could be more than one 5* hotel in this zone offered by HOTWIRE... so there is no telling if the 5* hotel offered for cruiseshmooz's dates is the same property as the 5* you bought (for a different set of dates)
