bargainshopper
Need a pre-cruise hotel stay on Oct 29. Maybe because of the annual boat show, availability seems to be low when compares to other weekend. Should I look else where or should I continue to try in the down town area till the "last minute"?Thanks in advance. Link to comment
thereuare
Best of both worlds... find the best cancellable rate you can and book it as a back-up. Then continue to bid on Priceline, but realize with higher occupancy it may also take a higher bid than usual. bargainshopper
Any suggestion how much to bid for either 2.5* or 3.0*. I tried $35 for W. Ft. Lauderdale today but was rejected. Link to comment
thereuare
I don't need to tell you that this will be a tough one given the boat show and as a result i think your bids are too low.I'm assuming that you are willing to accept anything in the airport, downtown, or west/plantation zones. I believe your best chance of success at a reasonable price will be in the west/planation area. When bidding 4* in the west/planation zone you have 4 re-bids available (plus the downtown zone since that's in your desired area) and at the 3* level you have 2 re-bids (plus downtown and airport since they're also acceptable). If i have your prefered zones correct this is how i would proceed:4* West/PlanationBid $45, if rejected add downtown and...Bid $49, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $62, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $65If the above is rejected i would close that browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.3* West/PlanationBid $40, if rejected add downtown and...Bid $45, if rejected add airport and...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid and...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid and...Bid $60.I know these bids go higher than what you've been bidding, but i believe at this point this is what it will take to have a shot. I'm doubtful you'll see success in the Downtown or Airport zones, but following the above strategy gives you a shot at those areas but also considers the reality that those zones may very well not be availalbe (due to the boat show) and gives you a sensible approach for your alternate zone.Feel free to ask any questions you may have or comments regarding the above. bargainshopper
Thank you. I will wait a week before rebid with your suggestions. Inventory seems to be more available now then a week ago. For example, Amerisuites downtown shows availability at their website today while it shows none last week. Link to comment
thereuare
Well the above is based upon current rates, so feel free to ask again in a week before you bid to make sure the suggested bid amounts still apply. vanclan
Can you give me the dates for the boat show? I'm trying to get 2.5* (Amerisuites) for November 3rd-6th. Hopefully boat show is finished by then??? Link to comment

bargainshopper
A newbie question. I bidded $40 for 3* for West/Planation. They rejected my bid but they said I can bid again if I am willing to increase my bid by $12.00. Any suggestion on what I should do? Thanks.(By the way, I bid via http://www.savingsbarn.com/ ) Link to comment
thereuare
Thanks for the support.Priceline stating that you can bid again immediately if you raise you bid by a certain amount is what we refer to as a counter-offer... these can almost always be under-cut and is explained further in this thread: PRICELINE SUGGESTS PRICE TO PAY.If you still have re-bids left i would divide the number or re-bids you have available by $12 and then increase my price by that amount using re-bids. In other words if this is your first bid and you have 4 re-bids available, i would add a re-bid zone and bid $43, if rejected add a re-bid zone and bid $46, then $49, then $52.If you don't have re-bids left i would just wait the 72 hours, start at $40, and then increase slowly from there. Of course if you're out of re-bids and are nervous about this reservation you can just go ahead and pay the extra $12 for the peace of mind of getting it done with.Any questions on the above feel free to ask... bargainshopper
Before I posted the 1:32PM, I tried to re-bid by adding $6 to my original bid but it came back and said I need to increase my bid by at least $12.00. It did not ask me to modifiy zone/start level... Link to comment
thereuare
Right... they're allowing you to bid again immediately without adding any zones or lowering your star rating IF you agree to raise you bid by $12. If you don't add zones or lower your star rating and only raise your bid by $6 they'll treat that as a duplicate bid and not even 'look' at it.What we recommend is that you use any re-bids available to bid again and don't raise the full $12 dollars.
