jdprofile
does anyone have a sense of what the optimal time to bid for your trip is? 2 weeks away? last minute? is bidding for a trip in 2 months too far away?thank you Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to the site. It depends on the city, dates/time of year and more (is there a convention taking place in the city at that time?). There is no across-the-board optimal time. Link to comment
slruud
I have had no problem bidding as far as six months out. I believe I get as good a deal as those that bid just weeks away. And don't forget Hotwire. Link to comment

royal
Same here, i plan plenty far out and still get good deals :)I don't think timing affects purchase prices in that way. What I mean is, it does, but you won't know which direction because there are a lot of variables. Sometimes it will be cheaper earlier, sometimes later. Sometimes a hotel will have a lot of vacancy in the upcoming days and need to sell their rooms out fast so it's really cheap right before the said date. Other times they will be relatively full and prices will go up. Don't worry too much about it and just bid accordingly - you'll still get way better deals than most other sites. :) Link to comment
menelaus7
Does it make any difference to bid during a weekday as opposed to a weekend? How about bidding at 3:00 in the afternoon as opposed to 3:00 in the morning? Thanks. Link to comment

New inventory may be loaded in after a weekend, but there's no way you could know/time that (or know what the current inventory levels were), so I wouldn't be concerned. Link to comment
