I am looking to get the Hilton or Sheraton at universal studios

Neither of the above have been identified.

I don't have a guess for the 3*, but for the Tripadvisor information for the 3.5* suggests that the Crowne Plaza Beverly Hill or The Tower Beverly Hills are among the likely candidates, and either of those would be our best guess.

I'm seeing that original 3.5* HOTWIRE property available now and it matches previous reports of the Sheraton Universal. Also the TripAdvisor stats match the Sheraton's (3/5 and 120+ reviews).

But the price is $169. Are you willing to spend that much for this hotel?

I don't think the Hilton Universal has been reported won on HOTWIRE. It's not in the Hotwire Hotel List. You can check that list, thumbtacked near the top of the California page, and see all the reported hotels in the Universal area.
